What's new

why are people afraid to visit pakistan ?

If I want to visit Pakistan with my girlfriend, i require few things.

1. Visa process must be easy
2. International Airline connectivity
3. Domestic Airline Connectivity or Trains
4. Tour packages from reputed companies
5. Night Life
6. Alcohol
7. Security

Well when I reached Youtube, i did not find many high quaility and high-def material for Pakistan...especially not proportionate to the size and population of Pakistan....I suggest a few of you can make some good documentaries about your country in English and wish subtitles in other languages and upload to Youtube in full hd or even 4k. Focus only on positive things...the objective should be bring please to Pakistan and not get some aid or loan so do not show a lot poor and slummy areas.....because most of the people want to go to good places, clean and hygienic and super fun....People who visit India often complain about getting sick there especially bad stomach...if that's the case with you also then they won't return and go to any other place.

All your demands are reasonable except point 5 and 6 since they are Muslim country and that's not allowed in Pakistan.

We have a vibrant 'night life' depending on what you call a 'night life'.

I have been served alcohol in Malaysia , Indonesia, Turkey; They all are Muslim countries.
Even in Dubai, I have seen people drinking alcohol.

Moreover, all these countries have a wonderful NightLife :-/

that's not true you can find both 5 and 6 in pakistan it has both night life and alcohol- it is allowed but it's for non-muslims you can even find murree beer which is a well known pakistani beer brand but there is so much culture, beauty, adventure and hospitality most tourists visiting pakistan are not interested in visiting for clubbing or drinking you can do that anywhere but experiencing pakistan would be something much more special than that .

Great idea, but I'd hate myself for being a hypocrite.

Also, it wouldn't allow me to really do Lahore, or find out why you characters go bat-shit about Isloo (imagine going ga-ga about 'Isloo'!) or what's so characterful about Karachi. Nor will it allow me to demand a genuine Hunza breakfast from @WAJsal - damn, you've made me hungry again.
Hunza breakfast is nothing special... Perhaps @WAJsal is just creating a hype about it :P
In your words,, going ga-ga about it :P

In all fairness, we hear all these things about how beautiful the country is and how great the people are, i feel that our FOOD is enough if marketed/advertised properly to bring loads of tourists :P

I fear that this will have to wait until my next assignment is over, since the medical conditions are extremely strict there; one lapse and I'm out. And this is my last chance to earn fat amounts.

I recently stayed in 3 star hotel in Islamabad. It was as good as any in US or Canada. Very clean and great service.

Pakistan govt is responsible for projecting country's image. Its diplomatic missions need to work more on this. But it all comes down to security, the internal security. At any airport or government building, you will see machine guns pointing at you through a sand bag bunker. Then there are more hurdles and delta gates before you finally go through the check post. It shows Pakistan is still not confident about its internal security. If thats the case, its extremely difficult to attract foreigners. The whole street where ISI headquarter is in Islamabad has been cordoned off as it its some nuclear facility.

Although you see more foreigners now than before, Pakistan still seems like a country in a lockdown. Karachi law and order seem to have improved, but the city is a virtual trash can, a dump of litter and extremely filthy. If law and order has improved, the city administration has totally broken down. I m from Karachi and have never see the city as filthy as its now.

I have read blogs and seen pictures of european visitors in Pakistan , who are always accompanied by police or security guards. I saw a video on vice's youtube channel recently ,where a female journalist stayed in a hotel in karachi ,which had three layers of security, and the security in-charge suggested the guest to got to certain floor of the building if any crisis occurs, where she will be safe. Outsiders like us know nothing about the ground realities ,but informations like these , definitly does not give a good picture of Pakistan.
Hotels encash insecurity of visitors, created by their media. Same goes with host providing special security guards. Furthermore, security guard has become a status symbol now. Host try to show their nuisance through such security measures. Security briefs are not uncommon in any hotel. I was given a similar brief in UAE. So this all aura is created to make money.
