Why an Indian threat to Pakistan is a myth

There is no doubt that India cannot and will not attempt to maintain its presence in Pakistan, in case of war. The issue here is the destruction that India will seek to inflict on Pakistan in a relatively short time and then head for the exit. That is why we need to stop the advance before it crosses the border, hence the security concerns.

And how will this hit and run strategy in any way end up in a better situation for india? The only times India has threatened a military action has been after terrorist attacks originating from pakistan.

There is nothing to gain for india in a war except destruction of these terrorist havens. These can not be neutralised without extended presence of boots on the ground. The best India can hope for is to punish pakistan for supporting terrorusts.

for india the threats are the terrorist groups acting out of pakistan.

for pakistan the threat is of india running out of patience and going for military action to hit those terrorists in pakistan.

Actually countries already in a mess are most likely to take stupid steps like attacking a neighbor to divert the attention of its local population from real issues. Pakistan has done that in the past.
