Why all rural tibetan houses have sharp spikes on their doors and fences?

Why all rural tibetan houses have sharp spikes on their doors and fences? Local Tibetan brown bear population is growing explosively in Tibet in recent years, bears take over rural regions in Tibet and even make inroads into the cities. Tibetan brown bears are protected animals and hurting them is a serious crime, so locals have to live with them and try to have their houses protected with long sharp spikes.
