Why Agni 4 is long and thin?

Well.. Umm.. errm..
whatever Gessler said..

and shorter is the Sub-continent way anyway.

. .
The A4 is an improvement to the A2 and basically implemented the software and navigation systems
that would go into A5. Both A4 and A5 will be canisterized. A4 could enter IA/SFC service by mid-2013.

Bulkier missiles with much larger diameter and shorter length like A3 and A5 are mainly designed for
implementing multiple MIRV warheads.
As time progresses, things get more and more compact and need
lesser space on a missile, so it's good going for shorter, bulkier missiles instead of long solid cigarettes.

off coarse they will be.

A 3 wont be MIRVd, A 5 will be (with composite motor in first stage-probably-too and with 6,000 KM rang(probably).

Indians dont have capability to have MIRV so its thin , regarding length it consumes more fuel . The missile cannot reenter if it is wider .
