Whole Sale Defence Deals: Pakistan and China

Type 054 A Frigate, New Generation Submarine and New Naval Base for Pakistan Navy. FC-20 Fighter Jet & Additional JF-17 Thunder for Pakistan air force.

Pakistan has looked towards its tradition ally after being bashed by the United States for its defense needs in 1965 and Pak-China defense & economic relationship never looked back. Current visit pf the Pakistani Minister was a great success by all means as Pakistan was able to not only pursue China to stand by it in these difficult times but also agreed on number of pending defense deals.


Type 054A Jiangkai Stealth Frigate:

Pakistani Defense Minister, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has said that China has also agreed to provide loan for the purchase of the Chinese 4400 ton frigate. This agreement will clear the financial problems of the Pakistan Navy and it will be able to purchase new generation stealth Type 054A Jiangkai II Multi-Role frigate which is equipped with the HQ-16 Medium-Range Air Defence Missiles.



Submarines:

Pakistan and China has also agreed to provide training to the personal of the Pakistan Navy on the Chinese submarines. Pakistani and China has already agreed earlier this year to jointly development and coproduction of diesel electric submarines fitted with the Air Independent Propulsion to meet Pakistan Navy’s long standing requirement of six new generation of submarines and may be SSN.


New Naval Base:

Pakistani defence minister has also said that Pakistan has requested China to construct a naval base for Pakistan at the site of Gwader. This would be the third main naval base for the Pakistan navy.

JF-17 Thunders:

Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has also asked Chinese counterpart to pursue PLAAF (Peoples Liberation Army Air Force) to induct JF-17 Thunder fighter jets in their air fleet.

FC-20 Fighter Jets:

Pakistani Defense Minister, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has confirmed that Chinese friends have agreed to the Pakistani request to provide FC-20 fighter jet to the Pakistan air force.

What the recent , attacks have proven is Pakistan has a weakness in quick response

a) Fire brigade
b) Police
c) SWAT special Police
d) Anti Terrorism force response
c) Anti Military response

As India (Unlike India who blamed every thing on us after mumbai I still feel there is low chance of direct connection but possible) is also aware , and so is US and most of the other forces and lately they have exploited these

Our primiter defence lacks in key defence areas , I mean a group of 2-3 people can navigate thru close enough , with explosives and cause major damage worth Millions before any response team reaches them or a counter meassure is taken Why?

a) Lack of Electricity so we cannot install electrical wires around key areas
b) Lack of Motion sensors and no usage of cameras to monitor facities
24 hours a day , by group of watch guards
c) Lack of Night vision gogles and actually we do not use these as evident
in most of the night attacks.

I mean we look at Area 51, a guy is 6 km away they have hidden motion detectors , anyone moves in that parameter , alarm is sent off automatically

The days of Pakistan in 60's where you can defend army facility with barbwire alone are FINISHED we like in age where video games teach you every known tactic to NAVY seal , and every mission imaginable. Together with google earth all information is there to be exploited

99% of the problem we face is not because we don't have J11 or Raptors its becasue of a slow Police force and lack local infrastructure to fight terrorism locally

a) Weak banking anyone can open transfer cash
b) Anyone can get telephone or cell phone
c) Underground financial systems (non bank based)
d) Salary problems for police civil servants

If these institues are strong , the army/airforce/navy would not have to get over extended
