Who will Win - America or Americanized China?

I agree with you Götterdämmerung
In the same time that some people/countries blame anything coming from US "culture": for exemple in my country movies from USA, songs with woman voice, /// and all that the few fanatics of my country say it is the pervert culture
But indeed most of the content of the culture is already worlwide and from very different parts of the world
The fact to summarize to "american culture" is extremist

For fast food i remember before revolution the KFC was the most popular restaurant in Tehran .. souvenirs souvenirs :D
it is off topic but a guy in Iran created a KFC but said it was about his name initials ... KFC is making a case against him

Americans have already lost. Their country is a vassal of Israel. AIPAC has subverted democracy and rules America. No one cares what Americans want.

In the US, we have many isolated 'Chinatowns'. But in China, many of what is 'Americana' is everywhere and desired by everyone.

You forgot omnipresent China-made goods in America, and in the whole world?

I communicated last summer with couple of professors from China who attended an international conference in Minnesota, they said they couldn't believe America is so backward, like China in 70s. LOL!

Another Chinese auto-maker remarked that American auto city Detroit likes a grand nanny in her 60s, ugly and barely movable. How could it compete with China like a girl in 16, elegant and swift?

Back to the topic.

I'd say better the author or the poster stop thinking with cold war mentality.

It is not a zero-sum game. Sinicized American and Americanized China will go win-win.

If “Kids munch Big Macs at over 130 McDonald's “ is a sign of Americanize, LOL! Americans have been sinicized for centuries just by looking at the China towns and made-in-Chinas in America. In addition, those 130 McDonald’s are really sinicized McDonald’s with large portion of the menus locally cultured and produced. Similarity goes for Pizza Hut, etc. or they won’t survive.

“The government may paint a picture of America as a devil country, but the average Chinese looks at America with total fascination." The Chinese government may paint a picture of America as a devil country whenever America invades another country illegally. Other than that, the Chinese government sends a lot of people to America to study better governance. So would many of the average Chinese citizens think as such.

I guess many of you really have to pay a visit or two to China and perhaps interact with ordinary people with their own language. Western propaganda often does worse than better when it comes to picture China.

 You must not know how much of China is in need of a city like Detroit, even TODAY'S Detroit. So yeah...By all means talk to your Chinese professors who have every reasons to denigrate the US while using American technology to do so. Then go home to your comfortable and spacious American home while your Chinese professors go back to their cramped apartments.

Why are you in the UK? Too used to comfort that are scarce in China?

hahaha seeing lot of my mates in china getting rich so easily i wish i wasnt in uk in the first place, anyway i m seriously thinking going back to china.

The usage of fork and knife at the table also has its origine in Byzantium and was introduced to the Italian aristocracy in the late Renaissance.

Glad I could still learn something useful from this site.

So Even If China Surpasses America in GDP, Will China still remain an American Cultural Slave and America Wins?

Truth be told, Chinese from mainland by and large are already American cultural slaves. That fight is over as far as I am concerned. Or perhaps more accurately there wasn't even a fight.

I can't begin to tell you my disappointment when I came back to Shanghai just to see everybody and their grandmothers "drunk" with the "Titanic" fever quite a few years ago.

Apart from this "GDPism" destroying China sooner or later, this "cultural kampf" has been a rout.

So the status of the "cultural slaves" is not in doubt. The debate is to what extent some in South Asia enjoy their "actual slave" status.

Lol Gambit, nobody on this forum tries harder to be American than you. Modernization=Americanization? Modernization=McDonald's, bad music, plot less movies, warmongering and fat people? Maybe it's you that's dying to be accepted by American Society. Maybe is a cultural thing, emulating your dominators China, France and now America.

does china got strip clubs ??
no its illegal, and i hate that```:p, and those undergroud ones are often awfual..!!

well i lived UK for decade, and moved back, since all my chinese tenants moving back to China i have to seriously start to think marketing to different groups...so please dont mixed up the chinese intension of going abroad (opportunity to make more money) and viets (running away from backward country)

That was quite a few years ago. The tides have turned since. It also used to be fashionable to use English words in Chinese sentences. Just look around you on the street and look around you in Los Angeles, the clothing styles are totally different.
