Just curious who owns the dam, Indian media reporting china will own a whopping 70%
is this true or propaganda?

. .
It's bot, build operate and transfer basis
They will invest earn their profit and income then transfer to Pak like most of their project so it's a win win for both

but 70% is too high, the land is by Pakistan government, security and maintenance costs is by Pakistan government half the funding is by Pakistan government but still, china owns 70%

what terms, if you guys offer everyone such terms, Pakistan can exceed massive investments.

The funding is also divided 70-30. All new projects are now going to be BOT ( Build, Operate, Transfer ). What i don't know is the duration before transfer.

.
Yeah I was going to make similar thread. Anyone knows details? If its BOT then for how much time? This isnt ordinary run of the river dam. Water storage should be given priority over electricity.

With 14 billion dollars expenditure and a decade to construct it,if there is one earthquake in that notorious tectonic region this dam is kaput, and will devastate the rest downstream in the indus.India should have popcorn and enjoy whats coming.
https://www.waterpowermagazine.com/features/featuredam-safety-and-earthquakes
Earthquake damage of buildings and bridges is mainly due to the horizontal earthquake component.
Concrete and embankment dams are much better suited to carry horizontal loads than buildings and bridges.
Large dams are required to be able to withstand an earthquake with a return period of about 10,000 years.

Due to Indian objections IMF , WB , ADB and other institutions or countries refused to fund it ( from last few decades ) . India calls some part of dam ( part of GB ) as its own area which is wrong ( Pakistan don't accept obviously ) , So You can say China was only and last option to fund major part of it because of v large amount of money required to build it . Pakistan also 100% trust China in this case because of its best relations with Pakistan ( also China is immediate neighbour of Pakistan ) , it has Veto power , strong economy and big stature at world stage ( can counter any propaganda and move ) , so thats y China . Some other details of this Dam will emerge with Time .

LOL WION news. More Indian propaganda posted by an Indian member.

India which attacks Pakistan both covertly and overtly is worried about Pakistan's economic wellbeing. Indian media now worries about Chinese stake in Pakistan LOL

Indians are pathetic and obsessive jokers. Just like their American masters. One can only laught at the claim that GB belongs to India LOL India should cry and ask Uncle Sam to intervene LOL

The problem with these Chinese deals are they are not transparent. Public don't know what is the actual deal and how much they have to pay the price. These IPP DAMs deals don't seems in public interest. Land is our water is our how could it be called IPP. Moreover these deals clearly don't mention what will be the cost of electricity for public and how long Chinese going to generate profit from these projects.
It could be understandable if it works this way
Lease time= Investment+ interest recovery time
Till they get back their money they will operate it. But there is also dirty trick to get more money by delaying the construction time, means more interest on the money.
Deals should be defined clearly that they will construct it in defined period. Plus govt can reduce their lease time by bringing the electricity rate higher then normal which was 2rs. May be 10rs so we can quickly return the money to investors, so we can take control by our selves. Plus what will be the guarantee of durability of the DAM. As one of the biggest Chinese DAM recently had cracks in it. I am saying all this cause we need to see our interest at the end of the day.

Bhasha dam is not being built on BOT/BOOT basis and is not being funded by China. It is being funded via allocations from annual PSDP, direct equity and commercial financing secure by WAPDA. It will be owned by WAPDA/GOP.

The projects being built on BOT/BOOT basis are smaller run of the river hydro power projects: Suki Kinari, Karot, Kohala, Azad Pattan and soon Mahl.

Just to add, Mohmand and Dasu are also being built by GOP/WAPDA directly.

Diamer-Bhasha dam is very expensive project; Pakistan cannot manage it with its own resources.

Just the land acquisition costed close to Rs.100 billion. Another large sum is allocated to address issues of local communities in the region.

International bodies are unwilling to finance this project for varying reasons. Therefore, Chinese funding and contribution is/was obvious.

The more it is delayed, the more costly it will be. It should be constructed ASAP.

Per the government and WAPDA the source of funding are:

- PSDP allocation (annually 35-40 billion)
- Commercial financing/bonds secured by WAPDA (May include from Chinese source)
- Some equity directly from WAPDA

Remember almost all the required land has already been acquired and transferred to WAPDA and the project’s first phase is focusing on storage dam which is (if I remember correctly) around 500billion the remaining portion is for power generation which will be done in second phase.

Indian media was crying that this dam will sink large part of Jammu and ladakh, how true is that ?
