Hmm..I don't think Women are harrased on this forum.IMO Members who are in Military or retired officers are usually more harrased by Military Fanboys :D.

TOtally - agreewd saaad- lol
well i totally disagree to these claims of sexual harasment . I dont agree to that yes some memebers did post more than desired comments but not sexual harrasment to say. I doubt that one member peopel think sexually harrased in intro section- his intention was wrongly perceived by people.
so
Lets build a bridge and get over it.

I agree with Nadja here. Its usually just a bit of playful fun and I fail to see where the harassment comes in.
Perhaps it depends on your upbringing, and I daresay those female forumers with a very conservative attitude might find it offensive...

@ Saadahmed, rabbit.rabbit and duhstamish: Thanks for being intelligent! :)

I'm with darkstar.........man,the females get flooded with replies in their introduction posts(yeah ,i'm jealous!!!)..........we can welcome them in a more proffessional and restrained way........thnx

:what:
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hi,

Over here is not an issue of being intelligent or not. We are a defence related site---and as in case of any millitary related site---the issues that are dealt are related mostly to death, destruction, mayhem and killings.

So---where do the cutesies fit in? Nowhere. Are they being tolerated---at the discretion of the mods.

A phenomenon that has cropped up recently, is excessive hooting at new female members of the forum when they introduce themselves in the new members introduction forum.

The act of passing cheap comments, 'wink wink nudge nudge' hints, excessive displays of testosteronic joy, and general innuendo bandied about is degrading to the forum, the new member, and reflects badly on the poster/s engaged in this 'excercise'.

Thanks a lot Dark :hitwall:, now I got to put away my Viagra Pills when I am logging in!!! :D

No Asim, DarkStar's message is not self-explanatory. Secondly, if you want the male members to behave "professionally" with the female members, put this as part of the rules. Thirdly, as for the "renowned Pakistani etiquettes endowed towards women", you need to list them out. Being a female who lives in Pakistani, I don’t know what these “renowned Pakistani etiquettes” are.
A simplistic answer is that, we're a Defence forum and our topics are related to defence and politics. Some very light socialization also takes place, but the emphasis being on light.

Ok I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get in knee deep into this subject. The problem I had was with your intro thread and subsequently when I closed it was on the attitude being expressed there which could be worded in Punjabi like "Oye Kurri ayi, kurri ayi!"

There never was an issue on welcoming the women.

What should be emphasised is decorum and respect towards all members regardless of their gender.
Whereas thats correct but lets not totally be gender blind, as it does matter in some ways or the other. We do however encourage a professional decorum for all.

I have come across posts where posters start their comments with words such as "idiot", "loser" etc etc with members of this forum they are vaguely familiar with let alone being on friendly terms. I won't say that I don't indulge in this, but not with members who I don't know. There is something called "good behaviour" which is amiss here en masse. You need to work on that.
This is off-topic and unrelated to the discussion here, but nonetheless worthy of taking note, without getting into too much detail on it, it's something what we aspire to as well.

sorry i am not intreasted in girls because my mom will beat me if she know i talk with a girl.lol

so i can't welcome any female here .

@ Asim and Dark Star:
My last remark in that particular post was not a derailment. I said what I felt and still stand by it: i still disagree with terms used to express the admins displeasure over the members' behaviour...

But then I seriously do realise that its your forum at the end of day and you can do whatever you want to do with this forum....

As for my intro thread... I haven't said anything about it on PDF till now, but here it goes: well yes there was "Oye Kurri ayi, kurri ayi!" reaction but I had thought it was normal.... I had come across a similar reaction by two moderators on another intro thread, one cringing about why there weren't any girls and the other said, hold on to her etc etc.

I had no idea that the numbers of girls here was so appalling that they could be counted on one's fingertips. If any girl after me felt harassed because of my intro thread or felt that the guys went berserk because of the constant replies etc therein, my apologies. I had realised that I have a thick skin and couldn't speak for all you women out there, hence the disclaimer right at the beginning of the first post.

Asim I have never expressed any displeasure over you closing my intro thread... it should have been closed a long time back. I don't know why it has been brought up again here... You said, "Ok I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get in knee deep into this subject," how deep is the deep end in this case?

Well you do know that we do a lot of things that can be construed as sexual harassment, unknowingly. You don't literally have to grab a woman's behind to get a score a point on the harassment board, it could be the normally smaller things. We are committed to not let Defence.pk come off as a hostile environment for either of genders.

This forum should not be used for a 'pick up'. In all honesty we are fine keeping things dead serious around here. If anyone does feel the need, use PMs, and still yet, if someone complains, we will take action.

I can't get into the specifics of how deep things are, but its not like a major problem around here either. We're getting proactively taking steps to prevent it from becoming an issue in the future either.
