I think because they are not ashamed of their identity and who their ancestors were.

This is one thing I really admire about the Iranians.

Their religion changed. Governments changed. Rulers changed.

But their identity never changed.

Thousands of years ago, they were Persians.

Today they are Persians.

Thousands of years later also they will remain Persians.

Just like China is also called Middle Kingdom.

I'm sure there are many names for many other countries. I'm limited by my knowledge.
