What's new

Whitherwards Indian politics ?

Jana,

I have a question for you.

India and Paksitan got independence on the same day, but you wanted to be one up and so you decided that it was one day earlier than India. Fair enough. Such cosmetic childishness is fine.

Ever since you have had to depend on the munificence of others to survive as a nation. You still continue to do so. Financially and militarily, you cannot to without the West. Morally, you require China to hold your hand!

When will you stand on your own feet?

The US dictates you and treats your country as a vassal state. Is that honourable? Ask yourself.

Since you will come back to comparison to India, let me pre-empt you.

We are not great country, but none can dictate terms to us, We are what we are and none can tell us what to do!

At the WTO, we did not budge! American must be hating us. Who cares? Our interests are more important than selling our souls for a few F 16s.

Think that over!

Obviously that pains you since we got Independence together and yet you are no where and the Two Nation theory screwed by the ''treacherous'' Bangladeshis and India is reaching some place!

I share your anguish!

SC upholds one-year sentence for cow slaughter

April 19, 2005 14:44 IST

Nearly seven years after Khursheed was convicted by a trial court for cow slaughter and sentenced to one year's simple imprisonment, the Supreme Court has upheld the punishment.

Dismissing an appeal filed by the accused challenging a Punjab and Haryana high court order rejecting his plea against the trial court order, a Bench comprising Justice B P Singh and Justice S B Sinha directed the Gurgaon police to take Khursheed into custody.

Cancelling the bail bonds of Khursheed, the Bench said "he should be forthwith taken into custody to serve out the remainder of the sentence."

Khursheed was convicted under the Punjab Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act by the judicial magistrate at Nuh and sentenced to a year's simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed on him.

The lawyer of the accused submitted before the HC that the sentence was harsh and pleaded it be reduced.

Rejecting the plea, the Bench said: "Having considered the facts and circumstances of the case and also taking note of the fact that the offence under Section 8 is punishable with a maximum of five years imprisonment, we do not feel persuaded to interfere with the quantum of sentence."

:) first of all though you had tried mud slinging on Jinnah but even than where does above "information" mentions that Islam forbids non-Muslims from eating PORK???

And why you are bent upon forcing all Muslims to eat Pork saying it does not diminish their achievements.
Secondly Islam does not ask non-Muslims not to eat Pork nor there is any punishment for those Muslims who eat Pork.

Now in sharp contrast to that in SO-called Secular India there is law that punishes those Non-Hindus to up to 5 years of jail imprisonment who slaughter a Cow.

Is facts mud slinging?

Here is why pork is haram: BTW you love eating pork? Let me not stop you eating pork!

Q 2. I have a question regarding selling pork. I knowthat selling alcohol is not permissible. I have heard that even selling grapes to someone who makes wine isbharam. My question is whether the same applies topork? Is one allowed to work as a cashier at fast foodrestaurants, which have pork in some of the items? Andis it allowed to deliver food, which has pork in it,such as pizza?

A 2. The Prophet - peace be upon him - is reported tohave said, "When Allah makes haram to eat something,He also makes haram its price." (Musnad Ahmad ibnHanbal, Hadith no. 2546.) On the basis of this Hadith, the general Islamic rule is that whatever is forbiddento eat is also forbidden to buy and sell. Thus aMuslim should not participate in the business of haramthings. If a person is involved in such a business, heshould try to find another halal business as soon aspossible.

Check what it is for blaspheming your Allah and the Koran!

To be frank is what the Koran says and what Mohammed discovered in the cave real?

If so, how and why?

I am not a pork eater like you. Alhamodlillah i am a Muslim and i dont eat dirty things.

You should enjoy your pork.

I do know why pork is haram.

And the Hadith ask Muslims not to eat or indulge in business of pork selling.

The Prophet (PBUH) did not stop Non-Muslims or Hindus from selling or eating pork.

If pork was dirty, how did Jinnah eat it?

MOhammed had not lien over Hindus since they never thought of him more that any other human, indeed if they had even heard of him!

Animals are as dirty as those who rear them. Have you ever visited a mechanised pork farm and canning! They are more hygienic than the cow or buffaloes that you eat as prescribed by your religious scriptures!

I assure you that I would not eat a pig which was on the street or a cow which was not scientifically reared!

I am sure you would eat a cow off the street eating sh1t because it is not haram,

Girl, religion does not decide on my health and well being. I have a brain and I use it and religion be damned!

Hon Jana was gracious enough to ignore your posting. I am naive and I will attempt to reply to the best of my ability.

Firstly, both the countries are midnight children and technically both the 14th & 15th August can be adopted. The choice of 14th didn’t imply any one upmanship, only to say that we are two different countries that’s all. Any other interpretation is incorrect.

Root causes as to why Pakistan has looked for assistance from other countries such as China and USA should be examined in the historical back ground. Sir Cyril Radcliff did grave injustice to Pakistan. An article published in the Daily Telegraph in 1992 written by Simon Scott Plummer describes how Mountbatten manipulated in India's favour the findings of the commission responsible for determining the frontier between India and Pakistan. Among them was transfer of Ferozepour and Zira sub district from Pakistan to India at the last minute. In the book called Kashmir: A disputed legacy 1846-1990, Alistair Lamb has produced new evidence that Mounbatten wanted Kashmir to join India despite the fact the most of its population was Muslim. Pakistan never got full share of the resources allocated to her from India and there was little Pakistan could do about it.

A neighbouring country 10 times the size is very intimidating. India's has employed bullying tactics from word go. She swallowed Jungadh and Hyderabad like a shark gobbling up small fish. With the Jansang and other Hindu fundamentalist parties clamouring for Akhand Bharat, Pakistan was forced to seek help from whatever sources that were available.

Isn’t it a fact that India trained and armed Mukti Bahini and when Mukti Bahini failed, India invaded East Pakistan? FM Manekshaw admitted this in a TV interview I happened to watch. However, when Pakistan tried to do the same thing in Kashmir, India screamed blue murder! No wonder Pakistan has looked for outside help; how would you feel if you always had enemy ready to knife you the moment your back was turned?

Please don’t try to show off India's strength. You had all the advantages from the start. There was hardly any industry in Pakistan in 1947. Whereas India was already an industrialised country. You had the advantage of a long continuous leadership by Nehru, whereas Pakistan lost the Quaid and Liaqat Ali very early on. No doubt Indian economy is very sound and India can afford to show two fingers at the WTO.

Indians should acknowledge the strides made by Pakistan. Compared to what we started with in 1947; Pakistan has come a very long way despite the nationalization of Mr ZA Bhutto and having to suffer 3-million refugees with all the consequences of Russian - Afghanistan adventure. Instead you are still trying to prove that you are better by flouting your stance at the WTO!

Hon Sir, You can shout and jump with joy. As they say every dog has its day and these are days of India.

Good for the prophet... to bring flawed argument back into perspective, please show how and where beef trade is being abolished in India.

Beef is widely available to anyone who wants to consume it. It just so happens that beef has more than one source.

He never does...

Not playing with the words.

Second.. don't want to answer.

Third not having able to answer what else you can do. Anyway attend your work

Sirs, if either of you even have an iota of commonsense you must have understood what i meant, but the fact remains you dont want to.

Anywayz, chill!

PS: The more you whine, the more clueless you'll become. Cheers!

You are the only wise person with a lot of commonsense remaining in the world. You are actually clueless about what are you talking.

Niaz, I appreciate the theme of what you have written. But have reservations on the line highlighted above.

A game of cards is played with what you are dealt with and not what you could have been dealt . The maj diff is in the approach both of us followed. Learning from our mistakes is something South Asians have never been known for.

It does not matter what amount of real estate we have or started with, what matters is how we manage what we have. Israel is an example of turning adversities around ( I am speaking only from the nature of land point of view).

The root cause of why Pak had to seek assistance is not what Sir Radcliff did or did not do. At the root is an endemic lack of self confidence we S Asians have ( or had then) coupled with our age old psyche of seeking props in form of alliances etc. In the case of Pak , they did not work hence the disillusionment.

Remember when we were in school there were boys who did not have the best Geometry boxes, whose note books were not covered neatly, whose uniforms were not ironed yet they excelled in academics ?....

Lastly, India is doing the best it can under the circumstances of the Coalition form of Govts since the last few decades. This may or may not prove to be right in the days ahead, at least the best possible shot is being taken , if it goes awry too bad. Where is the logic of what you have written..dog has its day .. ?

Hon Sir,

The proverb ' every dog has his day ' is not meant to be derogatory. Basically it means that sooner or later every one gets a chance to shine.

For example discovery of oil made poor Gulf Countries into rich overnight.
India thru her excellent IT manpower has accumulated huge FE reserves in a very short time span ( less than 10 years). Now India can deal with the increased oil prices and ignore economic pressures from Aid Donor countries.

I meant to say that with more than $100-billion FE reserves; no big deal if India stuck to her guns at the WTO conference.

A game of cards is played with what you are dealt with and not what you could have been dealt .

And indeed that is what Niaz sahib was getting at - with all of Pakistan's faults currently, we have achieved a tremendous amount from those days in 1947.

Pointing out what we lacked when we started is not to bemoan that which we should have had, but to illustrate and put into perspective better that which we have accomplished.

Mate, a point here, all the nations have achieved a lot since they got independence. Heck even BD which got independence in 1971, has gained a lot in these 3 decades. Thats not reason to say that they have done it right -or wrong for that matter.

Over time almost every country progresses. To be glad and confident in thinking that you have achieved a lot since then in absolute numbers is folly. For things like these, relative terms must be employed.

There are other countries liberated along with you, compare with them, see how much MORE have they achieved in the same time frame. Doing what you have done is not exceptional, it is but only normal.

India may have developed a lot from in absolute terms from 1947, but we frequently comment and express disgust at how we are much behind China, when comparing the fact that China had the same level of industrialization and output in many sectors in '47 as India. Today, these stats don't even compare.

Malay,

Nowhere have I said that we need to rest on our laurels, nor have I said that our achievements are everything they should have been - but they are present nonetheless.

Other nations can be used as comparisons, but without understanding what each nation started off from, how each nation has had different challenges to deal with, makes any direct comparison meaningless.

The Israelis and South Koreans have done a lot - great, we should strive to emulate them, challenges that need to be resolved remain, they will always remain, but that does not mean that what has been accomplished despite all the challenges should not be recognized.

Nor do we need to listen to Indians taunt us about "when will we stand on our own two feet" - which is really where this converstation started.

We are, and we have hung in there - though as I said above, like many other countries, several challenges remain.
