yeah, but being culturally sensitive is the humanly decent thing to do.
There are taboos of things you should not wear in Japan as well. Like should are suggested to not wear clothing that shows their shoulders.

I will tell you this, when I was in Dubai, I made the mistake of giving a guy more money than I should of and instead of taking it and running, he refused and took only the correct amount. And this guy was not some rich business man, he was a poor worker.

Actually speaking of middle east, taboos actually in my opinion for limited travel differ from place to place. Like middle east and even south asia(though i never visited) differs, people of pakistan are potrayed as this conservative countrie but my extended familie cousin dress very western and even here it would be considered immodest and they are living in karachi now think about that. Infact some of them are more western than people here from what i observe in facebook pics, I am always telling them, you guys are too crazy in midst of terrorism and unrest but hey people gotta party.

This stems from our past as a colony where the Europeans created this elite to be able to control the rest of the population. To fix this problem we need strong leadership, focus on education and nurture of our own cultural identity.

Yah someone mentioned earlier about that in the other thread but i think it is normal for example the elites here are Super francaise in culture not like quebecois but like 'France' france so may be it is something like that. However knowing my familie history, I am not defending their lavish life style for my limited knowledge but they worked for every penny of it when they started out in the 50s from scratch and they employ lots of people so I think you are being slightly harsh on them. However I do agree they should try to be atleast sympathetic to pakistan people after that incident in karachi instead of spending having 5 vacations a year and living in a bubble. Offtopic, it is pretty ironic that people can live in a buble in midst of civil unrest eh!!!

It was not without reason, we declared Hindus a completely un-acceptable culture.

We call it two nation theory.. hindu is a nation which once in control can never allow people of any other belief freedom of life.

Stop blaming the colonial powers. Its been 7 decades since they left and Pakistan has failed to create its own culture.

.... did you read what I wrote? read it again. Tell me where was I playing the victim? Where was I blaming anyone but our own society? You need to go back to school and refresh on reading comprehension. I pointed at the root of the problem (past colonialism), pointed at the symptoms (westernized elites), and to a solution (strong leadership and establishing our own identity).

And I don't want a "new" culture. I want our own culture that is based on our history/religion/ideology I don't want imported western elite to be replaced by imported Russian elite or Chinese elite.
