Now that the predictable de-escalation is in process, the real question to ask is where do India and Pakistan go from here?

India must realize that it does not have the capability to act with impunity against its neighbor as it might want to think. Although its act of dropping munitions inside Pakistan proper does convey its intentions, it must remain wary of creating the conditions for a wider conflict with unpredictable consequences.

Pakistan must realize that its old policies may no longer work as effectively as in the past and there needs to be a serious revamping. The entire region has changed significantly and Afghanistan may no longer be regarded as their backyard, at least not exclusively. The chances of the consequences reaching directly into Pakistan from actions that would have previously gone unchallenged are now significantly higher.

Clarify,
When you say where India and Pakistan go from here, you talking about people? government or the media?

And i hope you are NOT talking about media!!

Luckily for everyone, the media do not set the policies for either country. The governments do, and the people follow. Thank God!

Well even if you go by what is claimed the 'ledger account is' -

  • Action: Pulwama incident ~ 40 dead Indians
  • Reaction: 1 downed Indian jet. 1 Indian captured pilot, 6 dead Indian aircrew. Few dead Pak trees.
Nothing major shifted. End off.

There are still many pages in said ledger left to be filled, please keep in mind.

Its very simple: India must rethink her policies of sponsoring cross-border terrorism in Pakistan by using Afghan or Iranian soil. And have a good look at her policies in Kashmiris which is creating this hatred against her in Kashmir, where ppl are no more afraid to die as long as they take few Indians with them.

Thats a start.

It will get better then.

Otherwise, it is very much predictable: Down the line 1-2 years max, right when Pakistan is dealing with some kind of domestic issues, Indians will start this yelling, shouting theatrics again. With no real tangible strategic goals.

And what does Pakistan do on its part for things to get better? It is a two-way street, after all.

Let India hold to her word for atleast 2-3 years to show she is serious and will hold her elections based on performance and not on boogy-man Pakistan.

Pakistan will definitely reciprocate. Remember, IK and Bajwa are very serious abt persuing peace. But it should not be taken as a sign of weakness.

Let Kashmir cool down for few years, both sides can do this. India being the occupying force and having blood on their hand has to show her seriousness abt that.

Pakistan is hindutva extremist nation's scapegoat. India by design wishes to exterminate Pakistan.

Pakistan's policy are irrelevant in a 5th Generation Warfare senario.

For Pakistan... Civil engagement with india it's heads, India wins, tails Pakistan loses.

The only way Pakistan can "win" is by getting so strong economically, socially, and militarily that a rabid Hindutva nation like India doesn't even dare look at Pakistan with an evil eye.

Inshallah!

Very well put!

Position of far better strength, the real thing the thought of whicht gives indians literally a liquid diarrhea .

A strong Pakistan is never in the interest of India. This is their state policy.

One could say that the military part is already done with a credible nuclear deterrent, but the other two are lagging far behind.
