A thought experiment: If the population remained there and GDP is current (only possible with a seven-fold increase in productivity), the standard of living would be like Japan. Another interesting fact is, Japan was in same or worse condition than Pakistan in 1947. Shows nothing is set in stone, improvement is possible.

Japan had 99% literacy rate don’t forget back in 1947. That helped them to propel much faster than Pakistan. Same applies to Germany as well.

Actually, not only BD, all South Asian nations should follow and see the growth trajectory of Vietnam...In spite of being a small country, they are growing in a faster pace than rest of the developing countries in South Asia.

Vietnam had more bombs dropped on it than all of ww2 combined yet Bangladesh's infrastructure after 1971 was more or less left intact - you had a massive head start compared to Vietnam yet your position is unimaginably pathetic compared to Vietnam but you still puff your chest when it comes to Pakistan comparison.
