At federal level, the US defines "domestic terrorism" as activities that meet three criteria -
- dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law
- those that are intended to intimidate or coerce civilians or governments
- and which occur primarily within the US
The motive of the Las Vegas shooting is unknown, and may remain unknown.
Without knowing the intention, it is unclear if criteria (2) is met.
The motive of the Texas shooting was a quarrel with next of kin.
Clear failure of criteria (2).
A Muslim crying Allahuh Akbar, driving into a random crowd after announcing allegiance to IS,
fits all three, and is branded a terrorist.
The Oklahoma Bomber also fit all three, and was therefore branded a terrorist.
It is as simple as that.
No whining from people that usually see the main problem with Muslims blowing up civilians
is that Muslims get a bad reputation will change that.
And no, the US did not create the Taliban, Muslims did.
The US did not create IS, Muslims did.
The Taliban behaviour classified them as allies to Al-Qaeda, making the war on Afghanistan a just war, after the 9/11 attacks.
The (non) actions of Mullah Omar created the neccessary conditions.
Muslims do not want to assume responsibility for what others Muslims do. Thát is fine.
They however refuse to accept that some Muslims do bad deeds, and blame others.
That is interpreted as support for the bad deeds.
And no, there is no official policy anywhere in the west to blame all Muslims for what a few is doing.
Individuals may do so, and one of them is unfortunately POTUS at the moment.
