The question is why Pakistanis should trust a leader who has more assets in Dubai, Switzerland, and Saudia than in Pakistan. 2ndly this government has Billion of dollars for these stupid projects like youth loan program and foolish projects like Metro. And when it comes to Bhasha Dam, This Government says that due to lack of funds they have postponed it till 2037. I mean that's insane. Pakistan is already in Energy crisis and they are wasting money on foolish projects ? Don't you think so ?

Hasn't this been the culture among Pak leaders - They all have fled abroad after they lost the chair ?

Politicians everywhere are the same. personal aggrandizement is their sole aim.

In India what helps somewhat are the institutional rules laid down by autonomous orgnisations liek Election Commission, The Supreme Court and the fact that everyone knows that at the end of 5 years they HAVE to get back to the electorate. A drgree of transparency exists . Right to information also helps in no small measure.

Lastly, Politicians do not go abroad - they spend time in Tihar jail - starting with Indira Gandhi they all did.

I don't think any of that is ever gonna happen !

I think IK & TuQ are going to go there & do their thing while the Sharifs are going to do theirs - there maybe the occasional tussle between their respective supporters that either side is going to use to extract maximum possible political mileage from & this game of 'PML N vs PTI' is going to continue on for the remainder of the tenure.

TuQ on the other hand is going to come & lay some conditions most of which aren't going to be met & then fly back to Canada while selling the success of his Revolution !

He would lose army confidence within 6 months with his erratic decision making and put him at risk of another coup. Pakistan end up in a cycle of short lasting governments. Coupled with bombings happening everywhere by TTP because Imran thinks they "are our own" and "we are not fighting Amerika ki jang" and "peace dialogue".

My take:


Mid term elections were not demand of PTI, if they wanted that they could have just rejected the elections. Its just a bargaining chip in my opinion to pressurize govt to open up the damn 4 constituencies. Its the govt along with ECP, that is messing things up by not listening to PTI's simple demands since past 1.5 years.

PTI only demanded to reopen 4 constituencies, have them thumb verified, identify mistakes, find the causes and culprits, punish them and improve system to fix these issues for future. What's wrong with this demand? Its all legal and under constitution to do such demand.

Secondly, the tipping point at which the situation has reached today is just because of criminal negligence of ECP, SC and Govt. Everyone accepts that magnetic ink wasn't used in 2013 elections as decided before elections. ECP and care taker govt ensured that this ink and special paper will be used in elections, just because it will make sure the thumb impressions can be verified after elections if needed. It was great tool to stop election rigging.

BUT, that ink wasn't used, and hence massive election rigging took place. Look at the results of NA-256 and NA-118 which are opened till date. Who stopped the usage of that ink and provided others to do rigging without the fear of getting caught later?

And what has govt and ECP / SC has done to find the reasons why that ink wasn't used? How many inquiries happened in 1.5 years? How many people from ECP, ROs and Care Taker Govt have been questioned, arrested, convicted or punished for this scam?


By all means, PTI's demands are legitimate. They have right to ask, and have right to protest if their demands are not met. I hope IK won't do anything silly at 14th Aug rally. But what will happen if lets say, govt doesn't listen to their demands even after 14th Aug protest? Next protest will be violent.
