What's new

What should China do if NKorea tests another nuke?

Why the hell did we agree to these new UN sanctions?
Xi is an American puppet.

And you are Soviet Union puppet! Or that Jewish Marx puppet.

Seriously, for the sheer size of China, China will never become a puppet of another nation and no nation has enough resources to keep a puppet like China, lol, get real. We are not pacifist and religious like Indians, so the U.S. and the west will never be true friends. Mutual benefits, that's all.

North Korea is a rascal country, china should put it under control. As long as we cut off its food and oil supply, it will behave in terms of our dictate. North korea is a x factors which will severely dampen the regional security and strategic layout of China. Why the heck they need nuclear weapon? I mean North Korea should be controlled immediately. We denied every proposal for procuring fighters from North Korea for the regional stability. I am a strong opposite for North Korea developing nuclear weapons.

If the satellites confirmed preparations?
I'd imagine the same reaction as China, both would go apeshit. The US reason would be obvious, China's reason because the effects of the inevitable retaliation wouldn't stay within North Korea's borders.

I'd say China would intervene and topple little kim in order to protect its own people, but a nuke that can reach Hawaii is a nuke that can reach Beijing so... I guess China would be hostage too :coffee:

Why would North Korea develop rockets to reach as far as US if Beijing is that much closer? Why publicly announce their enemy is USA and not its neighbor? You can keep on dreaming that China will topple North Korea, if you guys have the guts you should attack them yourself and not hinting the Chinese doing your job. I would be more interested if you guys are brave enough to attack them and how China and Russia will respond ;)

Any one support DPRK possessing nuclear weapon is idiot, period.

You suggesting China should attack NK or stop all the food and oil aid? I don't think that's a good idea with all those refugees and the stability in the region.

Cut off all aids and relationship. Kim family has taught its people that Kim family won the Korean war, has been feeding them. The Kim family never mentioned about China's aid. The North Koreans only know that China refused to accept them as political refugees, so in the end, the people will brood dislike over time and its government only cares about how to maintain its iron grip.

If the Chinese government is mature enough, it should abandon ideology and false hope that North Korea will forever be buffing zone. North Korea will change, and the Chinese government should plan for the future, for better or for worse. If for worse, i.e. NK acquires nuke, it will destabilize North East Asia, to the detriment of SK, Japan and China, and hence, disrupt economic development.

Totally agree. Plus, the lunatic Kim is leeching off China to maintain its iron grip on its people. They never thank China for all the aids we provide them.

North Korea was one of the key leverages we had against U.S during cold war and before 1990s (and we paid heavy prices for that), but as our strength develops and our interests start spreading all over the world, hence our leverage to U.S diversified, we now have much more 'chips' to wage or to bring U.S to table to talk, or make them think twice of implementing any anti-china decisions or policies.

I simply do not care how the Kims treating their people, the things we need to worry is that what kind of international environment we want to creat for our rise````you know in the real world no one will give you what you wanted, you have to do it yourself.

we used to had so many friends from thrid world countries helped us to become a permanent member of UN council, but due to our 'layman's' foreign policy for last 4 decades, those helping hands did not enjoyed any 'divident' from it, but keep living under U.S's despotic foreign policies. wars, poverty, starvation and polictial unrests....

it is our obligation to share our prosperity with those who helped us in the past```this is what a responsible power should do

China will have to transform its political system sooner or later. I am no fan of the Communists, but they are a neccessary evil at this moment. So no, it's absolutely stupid to rock a boat when it's still sailing in the right direction. Any person with ten surviving braincells can tell you that.

 why do you hate the communists?
And what would you like China to become? A liberal democracy run by lobby groups and foreign powers like Japan, South Korea and India?
You want that?

Or do you want that incompetent KMT in charge?

Come on son, speak up. Without the communists we would be speaking Japanese right now. The CPC has proven communism is the only system that can make China strong. Confucianism has failed China when we were humiliated by western powers.

The day we change our political system to appease liberal crackpots like you is the day China goes back under western control.

What system do you want?
Liberal democracy?
Confucianism?

Let's talk about it on a more reasonable approach. What if and What should be. So, first, let's talk about Global Thermonuclear War.

China have a no first use policy. So, whatever happen between US and NK, unless either NK or US Nuke China, Chinese will refrain from nuking Either side. But let say for example, NK Strike first.

Depend on who NK strike. There are chance that US may or may not response with Nuclear Weapon. The closer the strike to mainland America. The more chance the US will strike back. The problem is, if that happen, what would be Chinese stance??

Simple, Chinese would have to cut tie with NK to save face. China have been seen as ONE OF THE MAJOR SUPPORTER of NK regime. While it unlike Iran (Another supporter), they needed to be able to face the UN and international body. China would have no choice but to drop NK like a hot rock.

If NK cannot neutralise 70% plus of their intent target (usually less than 40%) US and NK will strike back either conventionally or with nuclear weapon. By then China may have to invade North Korea from the North from international pressure (Invasion does not mean only armed conflict, but also compliance team or Enforcement team.) Unless NK can sucussfully destroy the offence and defence capability of SK, Japan, and US, NK would definitely be invaded.

So, what did China lose in this case.

Face will be lost and the world will hold another view to China, depend on how they cooperate with the World, Chinese faces can be salvaged in some degree. Also, if US decided to hit back with Nuclear weapon. (Apart form a total strike, which will destroy the world) Chinese will face the nuclear fallout from US Strike to North Korea. Thirdly, there would be a chance NK actually will hit China for helping the west (WHich would definitely the case if NK strike first)

So, what if US strike first?

If US Strike first. Then NK would use it's remaining (For a alpha strike, 10-35% of NK asset are estimated to left untouched) nuke and chemcial weapon to attack SK, Japan, and US (If there are still ICBM left) Then US/Japan/SK will invade the North and the second Korean war started.

China may, once again, got drawn into another war alongside NK. But chances are, chinesw won't engage this time as before for 2 reason.

1.) The reason Chinese strike in the Korea War before is because they are still weak in the 50s, and needed buffer. Now China is at least 10 time stronger than in 1950. China have no reason to keep the buffer and set back on its own economy.

2.) Chinese would better off see SK/Japan/US got suck into another war and drain their power in Asia so when the time come they can over take all three country in 1 shot in Asian Region. China basically better off let NK battling out SK, Japan and US alone.

The prospect with China is. They will not suffer much if US strike first (Unless US hit Chinese soil) nor they will not do much to the conflict. Just let NK wipe with SK and Japan, which China consider both their competitor. Which is the best case senario

Now, let's talk about Strategic Prospective.

Strategically, Chinese is big enough so it's uncessary to have a nuclear satellite state. Most Chinese member think it's a deterrent to the West if Chinese keep such a state, but what it is, Chinese is already big enough to be that deterrent. They do not need a satellite state that nuclear capable.

The problem with a Nuclear Satellite state is, whatever they do, you have to be responsible. It is good for China to a point up until 1980. When Chinese really need that buffer. The problem with NK now is they are tending to be more and more renegate even to Chinese order. China also warned NK not to develope Nuclear weapon, but NK did it anyway. This put strain in the two relation and also the tactical conflict. Simple because China can control their own nuclear weapon. They can have a choice to use it or not. But China have no control over NK's nuclear weapon. And what crazy is, if NK decided to use it, it's not NK's arse on the line, it will be Chinese's arse on the line.

True Chinese Strategy should be reasonable toward their nuclear program. Balance what is enough for them. If they get out of hand, Chinese need to pull the saddle before NK totally ignore China. Otherwise, Chinese will be drawn in a war they do not want. And the reason will not be Chinese own reason, but someone's else.

Is it the price Chinese want to pay to keep their nuclear neighbor. This is for the Chinese leader to consider himself.

Communist cannot remain in power forever. No one in the entire history of China can. There will be a day when the government is replaced. That is the natural order of things. While the communists have done a great deal, they have also made grave errors in their ruling. A government must be held accountable to its people, and replaced through peaceful political means if neccessary. Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

Look at the top level leadership of the communist party today. All of them have business connections and most of them have relatives overseas. Keep living in your dreams, since the communist party is already controlled by business interests and its leaders have sent their children abroad. Hell, even Xi Jinping has his daughter in Harvard, right in the hands of Americans. In ancient times, we call those political hostages. Spin it anyway you like, redguard.

I heard about this plan called OPLAN 5029. The Americans were ready to invade North Korea. Also, the Chinese had a similar one.

The plan was to invade the north part and form a buffer zone. I would like to call the plan "Operation Lightning Dragon"

In a few years time, China will become Socialist Democratic and the PRC might be renamed to the Democratic People's Republic of China.

China does not take sides. We will not veto sanctions. But if the US attacks we wil not let them succeed either.

Chinese nationals, I would like to hear your opinions.

Xi seems to be really against NKorea having a nuclear weapons program.

What do the Chinese people feel he should do if they continue to ignore their biggest ally wishes?

Should China cut all trade with NKorea?

personally,
nobody wanna live in a country surrounded by nuclear weapons.
but what can we do? no one can stop them!
and North Korea is our ally,
hope they will not using it to threaten us.

Whether to change or not to change the mode of governance is in our own hands and pace, kid.

Xi's daughter is studying in USA - so what? Jiang's son is also graduated from usa - so what! We are not in a position to be dictated by foreign powers like some self prophesying "democratic" superpower and "arab springs" that are meant more for devastation now than ever in the name of democracy - the western way!
