What's new

what role has india played in afghanistan?

Taliban shudders at the thought of Amrullah Saleh coming back in power.
When he headed NDS between 2004-10, Taliban was at their weakest and started gaining strength only after he left.
The moment US pulls out this govt. will fall. And not due to Talibans but due to the power grabbing of the current politicians.
And that dude Saleh will probably be taken out by one of his own.

Not going to happen.
While some infighting still remains, Afghan political structure is far more stable than before.
The new young interior minister for security is very capable to

Afghan government controls 50-55% of territory whereas Taliban has only 10-15%.
Rest of the area is contested.

Thus Taliabn is far far weaker compared to Afghan government.

Taliban don't need to physical control any area

Their influence is more than enough to cripple India's only ally in Afghanistan

Today Taliban have crippled Afghan government and as a result India is a nobody in the whole Afghan drama as shown in this embarrassing interview :)

Amrullah Saleh is next najibullah or razik

That is the fate of all Indian allies in Afghanistan. They all meet a tragic fate in the end and India always fails to save them :(

To put it in a nutshell, the US and NATO have allowed India to destabalize Pakistan from the border area. This hasn't worked and after almost two decades finally someone in the WH understands it.

Obama was the architect of hating Pakistan. Today Donald Trump is going to take full credit for achieving peace in Afghanistan. Obama is going to crumble.

Such analysis are the reason as why outside world never understood the facts from within Afghanistan, the reality & core concern to be dealt accordingly. By the way, Afghanistan Government is the same entity that Taliban denied to talk with saying that Government is impotent & has no power to make a single decision rather they are puppets. Then, US etc have been pressing on Taliban to talk to Ghani as well so that he can feel like a party in process. Saying that Afghan Government has any role is like warlords & drug peddlers are vowing for democracy and rights of the people. Just that India has no say in process except that Kabul is being flooded with buckets & buckets of money by Indians; doesn't mean Taliban are weaker at all. That 50% is merely an internet invention to support a weak argument. If the matter be discussed in seriousness with interest of quality discussion; those figures are not even close to reality let alone to ponder upon. The alleged Far-Weaker is actually dealing directly with US, the most powerful country and then this statement of yours.

The writing was on the wall. Whilst India tried to use terror tactics against Pakistan from the border region, we kept faith in the dialogue option. It has paid off. Now let's give Trump election ammo. Trump must win 2020!

You give trump anything, it's US deep state that runs some specific war related policies in US.

And we can't trust Trump too..

He is right that India has no influence on Taliban but India has got unmatched influence on Afghan government, which is why RAW's closest ally in Afghanistan Amrullah Saleh is now all set to be Afghanistan's Vice President.

Meanwhile Pakistan has influence in Taliban but no influence on Afghan govt.

Which tells us that India is barely a regional power. China, Iran, even Russia have little influence over the Taliban yet are all now key stake holders in Afghanistan.

The Chinese are extracting minerals and investing all over, what has India done apart from build a library?

Agreed, but thus far Trump has proved his worth. Besides peace in Afghanistan is our first priority anyway. After that we are going to include Afghanistan into CPEC/OBOR project.

For Pakistan this is a double whammy. Appeasing Trump and winning peace in Afghanistan.

Well I don't agree with the Russian ambassador here. Actually he failed to understand the question of journalist. She was not talking about Afghan taliban but TTP
