why do you want to spin it?-
Just appreciate the armed forces wish more death and destruction to talibunnies and move on-
I agree with you but on the other hand Pakistanis are also taught the the politicians we have are the only saviors of Pakistan. Without them Pakistan will cease to exist.
Once we come out from this thinking and choose highly educated competent people to run the country the country will prosper. Even if it means to grant a honorary Passport to a foreigner to fulfill the constitutional requirements of being a Pakistani citizenship holder.
Their should be term limit on how many times a person can be elected President or Prime Minister.
Why bring from outside? because we a nation of 180+ million do not have competent and highly educated people to run the country. This is what the politicians think (see my first sentence) and are telling the nation since years and years and years.
How do we want to spin this?
too late , but prevention could have been better, something to be done by law enforcement agencies.Great performance by the Army?
indeed. breakdown and disregard for law, complicity and incompetence by the state institutions.Total breakdown of law and order allowing amassing such weaponry for terrorists in the first place?
this is not weapon culture, this is not Pashtoon tradition. IEDs, heavy machine guns, bombs and rockets are meant to kill and maim civilian population. this is terrorism and violence against the state and its people (including other fellow Pashtoons)Just the proud Pakhtoons following their love of weapons as part of traditional culture?
just another statistic. imagine if one is found how many more are not found? how late we are. how dire the situation is and how resourceful and relentless these terrorists are that are fighting with the state for over 10 years full on and dont seem to be short of men, material or money.I do not know what to make of this news snippet, taken by itself.

his comments are thoughtless. whether or not we like it. those elements that decide to seek refuge in our land actually bring trouble with themSo what are we doing that is anything different from what we have done before that allowed such a situation to develop in the first place? The same old ways will not stop this situation from getting worse despite listing these statistics, given this rather alarming news:
Militants not dangerous to Pakistan should not be targeted: Sartaj - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

I wonder what this clueless guy would have to say if these not so dangerous terrorists are wanted by say China or Iran or Saudis?
we cant live in isolation in this world. we are a signatory of this war on terror. while we must try to negotiate a peaceful closure to this conflict between Americans and (say Haqanis) but that doesnt mean that we let them come and go at their sweet will and be guests of those who ARE dangerous by their actions and intentions;
Brilliant diversionary attempt, but that is not the thread.
Take permission from admins and we can discuss "pashtun factor" in terrorism in a thead. This is because of the so-called Pashtoon factor. An overwhelming majority of the members of the so-called religious parties, particularly in the top positions are Pashtoon. Same is true for the KPK government. You are talking about the government and political parties, I say a majority of members here on the PDF do not have the spine to point to this Pashtoon factor for they fear either to be labeled as racists or given infarctions. Some members did try to bring this up but threads were closed and removed by the management for this appears to be a taboo subject on PDF.
Not all Pashtoon are terrorists/terrorist apologists/terrorist sympathizers, but many of terrorists/terrorist apologists/terrorist sympathizers are indeed Pashtoon and they support them in the name of the so-called Pashtoon wali and to some extent Islam (which is a screen). Prominent columnists such as Nazeer Naji, Izhar ul Haque, Muneer A Baloch, and Ammar Choudhary have been writing about this. They have mentioned how the outskirts of Lahore, Chakwal, Islamabad, Karachi, even garrisoned city Rawalpindi have been surrounded by the un-welcomed Afghans. All sorts of criminals and terrorists call those settlements home. In order to solve, the problem needs to be recognized first. We are simply not willing to recognize the Afghan factor and divided or confused identity crisis of Tribal Pashtoons and their role in the current insurgency.
I am not saying non-Pashtoon are not involved in terrorism, they are, but the sanctuaries and nurseries are still located primarily in lawless FATA and the areas bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan. Money, weapons, and drugs all come primarily through Afghan/FATA/KPK route. Tribals need to decide once for all, are they Pakistani, and if yes, they must favor Pakistani interest. I am not saying they should sever their relations with tribals living across the border but the movement must be regulated and it will not happen without Tribals support and willingness to establish the writ of Pakistan in those areas.
That is the exact point I was telling in another thread to another Pakistani member. Its the blind love towards PA or rather their systematic brain wash due to major part of Pakistan existence under military dictatorship that Pakistani awam not able to trust their own people by electing them democratically. Every system takes time to adapt and evolve. This chance is not given to the pakistan democracy hence when ever democracy in Pakistan tries to do something different or learn, It is evident in history that military kicks in and pose a dictatorship.Correction: Pakistanis are told to think that the Army can do no wrong in Pakistan.
Giving the latest figure about casualties, the commander said 42 officers and security forces personnel have been killed while 155 are injured in the ongoing operation.
“1,198 terrorists have been killed, 356 injured, and 227 have been arrested by security forces,” he said.
“11 private jails, 191 secret tunnels 39 IED factories, 4,991 various types of ready-made IEDs, 132 ton explosive material, 2,470 sub machine Guns, 293 machine Guns, 111 heavy machine Guns have also been recovered during the operation,” he added.
Giving an estimate of the recovered weapons and explosives, he said the quantity of the weapons and ammunition recovered from militants could have been used by militants to kill over 88,000 people and was massive enough to sustain war against security forces for more than 15 years."
