What our textbooks don't tell us: Why the Rajputs failed miserably in battle for centuries

But things have change now,We are POLITICALLY a coherent Entity like never before,no Rajput,no Marathas no shyt ..... Now Even a Soldier.. From Madras Regiment has to Serve in Extreme Cold in Siachen and a Sikh in Andaman.

Yes. But our regimental structure is still fully British, and the old regiments remain structured along martial race lines to this day.

They do swear to fight and die for India

The regimental structure is for inculcating the concept of paltan ki izzat
ie honour of the battalion

.
That is why I dont mind the British rule

They pauperised and looted us to the BONE ; but made us into ONE country
which we were never going to be on our own
Mee too i admire British in many ways even more than Mughal (except early Mughal),But we require a different thread to discuss their contributions.

But i am proud that my ancestors served under British Indian Army and got the chance to humiliate the likes of Tipu "the shyt" sultan.

My point is, while officers and medics and ancillary support staff come from across the army, the fighting forces (jawans and NCOs and JCOs) are largely if not fully of the indigenous populace around and from which the regiment was originally raised.

Marathas believed that they were the only WORTHY rulers of Hindustan
since they had broken the back of the Mughals and Aurangzeb

This led to a One DIMENSIONAL policy

Conquer and levy taxes ; they believed they had the ability to defeat all foreigners single handedly

They did not believe in alliances
This is not about worthy rulers or not ...its about expansionist ..and every major empire try that ...there is nothing wrong..but yes before panipat they should have made some peace treaty with Jat and Sikh... its politics..
About levy taxes .. Maharatra is not agriculturally rich region which can survive on own, so for money they levied taxes while giving security(from themselves)...

I am partially agree with you bcZ after independence Regiments like Brigade Of The Guards was especially established to Recruit soldiers from other than Martial races and areas which were historically ignored.

Now IA even recruits even Tribals from Eastern India For example Albert Ekka (tribal) won PVC he was in Guards Regiment.

Other than Guards there is Naga Regiment.

That's a fake story prithvi didn't freed ghori as he never captured him, after receiving defeat at the first battle he fleed in a horse with the help of his slave who later founded slave dynasty in india
Ya true...if I remember correctly rajput soldiers chased him for a long distance before giving up.

.
Rajputs follwed a stupid honor code which included among others-not attacking below the waist, not attacking at night, not attacking an enemy who has fallen or laid down arms(even if if he looses his weapon after a strike)
This coupled with thier tendency to charge headlong into the enemy without any coherent strategy meant they were going to go the way of dodos sooner or later.
On a related note, most Indian rulers of medival times were cowardly incompetent fucks when it came to militray matters.
Be it Prithivi Raj Chauhan or Ibrahim Lodhi or others-despite controllling territory upto kalat these rulers only came to face central asian invaders near Panipat and even then allowed them to ransack the countryside for supplies while they hid in the cities.
Even a chess amatuer like me knows you should face enemy near his home territory so that you can quickly seize the initiative after just one quick victory and not allow him any chance to regroup for a second battle.
Indian rulers did the exact opposite. The barbarians got whole Punjab without any fight for supplies and had to only win one battle at Panipat for the whole northern plain to open to them.
