What normal Chinese people think of India and Indians

People tend to be more revsere about their true feelings when are ask by a third party on street or interviewed by some foreigners.

The real feeling towards India are: many who has no idea about india, and therefore are indifference, others who know more, are think not very high about india, in general people in China dont take india seriously, and dont like the idea the west always try to group the two together.

I think most indians are very insecure (they may have a very convincing reason to be so through) and care too much about other's opinions, in China most simply dont give a rat *** about how india/som othres view China or if india test another bromos shit whatever.

So to be honest, the only difference I can find between Chinese in PDF and Chinese in general, regarding india, is, the Chinese in PDF actually care much more about india than the rest Chinese for whatever reasons.

The running serial by a Chinese visiting scholar at IIT is very interesting. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in the topics such like "India in Chinese eyes". It is a in depth reflection based on intimate personal observation of Indian society.

The writing is wonderful and in such a detail that you can almost touch the texture of Indian society's fabric, from slum dweller, a street fruit vendor whom he befriends with, to Vila owner, to IIT professors.

I interact with many Chinese students here in the US. They're the largest foreign group and in nearly a decade of meeting hundreds of them ranging from brief small talk to short-term acquaintances to long friendships I have never found any tension or disdain for India. Most were very curious about the country and some wanted to understand more about the India-Pak acrimony. And while I scrupulously avoided bringing up Pakistan many of them brought up a fear of islamist violence- especially when attending conferences in central asia and the middle east.

I have commented on another thread - maybe Kaptaan's - about how close or cold strategic ties are not always mirrored in a similar perception by ordinary people. It is common for states to have bad relations though people are unconcerned and similarly close strategic ties may be insufficient to change a perception of indifference among people.

The curry smell is legendary. Here in US or Canada where houses are usually based on wood frames, it is very difficult to get the smell out after years of indian residence. Anyone has a good tip? The last tenant of my current apartment was an Indian. It is largely fine since it was renovated after he left. But one closet still has the smell.

Rent it to a chinese, it may mitigate the curry smell but on a flip side the house may start smelling of stinky tofu

you are judging chinese from pdf posters.... most chinese know little or nothing about India... apart from something to do with buddha... and may be they have come across a bollywood clip.
I dont think chinese are insecure about India at all... its we who are jumping and trying to grab attention... the indian media is to be blamed for that..

"Insecurity" belongs to those constantly making tall claims, and they are not Chinese. It doesn't make sense that you used "insecurity" on Chinese if they are "well ahead in almost every respect".

Chinese don't "show you down" for your sincere effort of trying, but in our culture we do look down on boasting behavior, which some of your countrymen may consider as "Aspiration". Chinese just have lower tolerance to BS, especially those from media and government officials.

In 2009, PLAAF chief said on TV that Chinese 5th gen fighters would be entering in service in 8-10 year, many Chinese military fans pounded him for bragging. It turns out, J-20 entered into active service in 2016, even earlier than what he promised. You see the difference here?

Ordinary Chinese would not know Brahmos.

I actually think that Chinese in this forum are friendlier when interacting or posting their opinion about India and Indians as compare to Chinese not on this forum. Most other Chinese, like you said, only know about negative aspect such as curry smell and rape on the news. Chinese members here also know about Brahmos and that India has finally induct Tejas. Ordinary Chinese would not know Brahmos.
