Hello,

I was wondering we have members from all 4 provinces and 4 territories of Pakistan with diversifed views and ideology so it would be nice to see some interesting stats of the following question.

What kind of state/governance do you want to see in Pakistan? Please provide an answer with reasons to back your claim. I know this poll is not going to change anything in Pakistan but it would be nice to see an opinion of the peoples of Pakistan and i would request indian/non-Pakistani members to only participate in this thread and please do not vote. I just want to see the polls voted by Pakistanis only.

And please, please, please do not make it another Islamic/Religious or flaming thread.

1) Democracy / Republic
2) Islamic State
3) Military Rule / Dictatorship
4) Communist State
5) Feudalism / Tribal System
6) Monarchy
7) Socialist
8) Others

democrazy is never gonna work...too many uneducated people willing to throw away their votes to bhuttos and nawaz and chaudharies

dictatorship will weaken the military and in turn destroy pakistan from inside

Republic ? even tho i voted for democrazy

Zaki, it would be better if you eliminate the socialist and the republic option. Democracy itself can be socialist and republican. "The Communist Manifesto" lays out the initial dream of a socialist democracy.

I'm sick of this argument. People from rural areas have shown a much more vibrant attitude towards Democratic norms and have changed attitude towards candidates more often than the ones in urban areas. There is no direct correlation between education and the atmosphere and the environment required for a sustainable flourishing democracy. Such excuses are used by elites and bourgeois to justify their dominance and maintain the existing class structures.

^ Lol you might be sick of it but its the "reality"..explain to me how else did we end up with zardari and rest of the gang

Also look up nazar gondal..lets just say ive met the man and can tell you which chaudhary from the miana gondal area gave him all his votes

thats just one example, one that mirrors many

yes i was thinking the same but forgot to remove Socialist and republic when i first wrote in my notepad.

I cannot edit the polls, i think MODs will do me a favour - or we can count the votes for Socialist and republican and add into Democracy

Thanks

Hi
Its a huge topic, and i am barely keeping my eyes open since its 3:28 A.M in Pakistan, well for starters it would be great to have a law which doesn't discriminate no matter how influential the alleged people are including the military ones, where Zakat is taken from the rich and distributed amongst the poor of the society, will of the people should be of utmost importance especially their consent should be necessary for the selection of a leader which is not the case when you talk about Mr.Z

Zardari didn't stand up for public office in the general elections but moving on to the real point.

The "gang" has been the only option given to the people of Pakistan. The social contract of feudalism is anthropologically and psychologically averse to democracy and accountability. The concept of plurality is non-existent as people like to worship one living party god yet the elections in 1970 proved that feudals can lose. While abandoned later by ZAB, left wing academics did indeed win from many far flung areas. Southern Punjab might have moven on to another chain of feudals, but rejection of the N league due to their constant lack of attention and care for the region is a visible sign of the fact that people can change their attitude towards parties and candidates. Unlike the far more developed areas of northern Punjab (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, etc), the people of southern punjab have rejected the N league entirely while the people of northern punjab would even vote in a donkey if the N league supports it.

What I was trying to say is that given options, rural populations can bring change to the electoral process unlike the apathetic, selfish, aimless, repulsive and obnoxious upwardly mobile urban middle class that cannot care less for the very community, society and nation they live in.

Rural populations have risen against feudals more than once even with limited resources, lack of protection in the face of the wrath of the goons and their abysmal futures that they knew lay ahead of them in case of failure. I can quote examples across the heartland of Punjab to support my point and can send you papers in this regard.

The rural population is less averse to democratic norms, is far more devoted, much dedicated to the nation and is more caring towards the society in general. As they do not live in luxury, they do not go on rants about khilafat based on knee jerk reactions that emanate from hopelessness.

Why not? Without guns, swords or any of those stupid terrorists or suicide bombers.
Just give us the chance to explain islam.
and you will imediatly be muslim.
But its funny how the internet is anti-islam.
While the world getting dominated by islam in reality.

A secular republic like turkey is best option for Pakistan but with maximum autonomy given to the provinces, with the center only controlling taxation, economy, national defense and foreign policy. Every thing else should be given to the provinces.
