Okay here is a curve ball for you...Do you think Shiaism is an oblique way of expressing Persian rebellion against Arab dominance? The way Ali (may his memories be cherished) is depicted in Iranian Art and murals, you might as well think he was a recent revolutionary Iranian poet who was martyred by some fascist oppressor.

Quite the contrary, it's the Sunni Islam that is Persian in character.
From the authors of all authentic Hadith Books (Sihah Sittah) to the greatest Sunni Imam (Abu Hanifa) to the second most Influential muslim after Muhammad PBUH (i.e. Ghazali), all were Persians.

Shiaism flourished in South and East Arabia and some parts of Africa. Persians converted to Shi'ism only a few hundred years ago.

Islam as a whole we know today , was the creation of the Abbasids who were largely influenced by the Persians and they were based in former Persian city Ctesiphon renamed as Baghdad. They annihilated the Umayyads who were much closer to authentic Islam by targeted assassinations. Abbasids thus vilified Umayyads through their own version of fake hadiths and historical accounts commposed by by Persian and Jewish authors. Baghdad based Persians gave birth to both Shia and Sunni ideologies and divided the Muslim community.

Grudge is one word you could use, yes.

I wouldn't, but you could.

I miss @I.R.A man. The nasty fellow is sitting on his Arab stallion acting high and mighty.

For shias it's a grudge, deep down they care about critical thinking above blut und boden that's why they're following Islam despite the feeling of hatred they share. I share no grudge or hostility for what Arabs did to our land. Some cares about blut und boden while some others care about Truth and the might of the sword as well as the might of the pen

@padamchen, Something interesting caught my eye while going through the other older thread. The following explanation to Jana regarding "Toran"

Toran:

Toran is generally made of mango leaves, marigold or other flowers strung together on strings and put on the entrance and doors jambs in the house. A Parsis house can be easily identified by the typical toran and chalk at the entrance. Though many this too to be a custom of the Hindoos, we have evidence that in ancient Iran Torans were uses, especially in fire temples. According to Firdausi and Tabari, the Sasanian King Khushru Parviz went to the Atash Kadeh of Adar Gushasp before assuming power after being ousted by Behram Chobin, and after being dethroned by his son Hormazd. He had the Atash Behram decorated with pictures of natural objects like star, sun and moon in the form of silver torans and silver plates. Moreover, according to Dr. Sir Jivanji Modi, even the ancient Jews and Romans had the practice of decorating the door of the house with flowers on auspicious occasions.

No idea why, but this practice is prevailing among Assamese people also. Specially during marriage or other joyous ceremonies. The entrance is adorned by a string made of Mango leaves and small flowers (I don't know which species). And entrances in our language is also called তোৰণ / तोरण (pronounced [to'.ron] ).

As I recall, there was someone from South India who said they have the same.

Torans in our fire temples are made either with silver chains and medallion plates with religious figures (Atash, Zarathustra, Ashoh Faravahr) in intricate patterns or jaalis made of fine colored beads strung to form similar patterns, as well as Humata, Hukata, Hvrshta.

The same silver plaques and medallions are embedded into the heavy wooden doors that lead into the Kebla (the inner sanctum sanctorum where the holy fire is kept, and in which only the Dasturs enter, where no electrical light is supposed to fall, and which has a series of intricate air channels and chimneys in the domed roof.

The respect is very mutual I.

A number of jahils here who abuse Zoroastrianism do not realise that it's only you and the fact you read here and not a ban that now stops me from speaking my own mind about Islam.

Yes blood enemies sure. In another time and place.

For us we have only one destiny now that drives us.

We want our blood and soil back.

We want to start breeding Parsi boys with Irani girls. Irani boys with Parsi girls.

Zoroastrianism needs to guide the Persian race once more.

Neither they nor us will forget easily the past.

What started as a rebellion and multi coups against royalty and clergy, eventually culminated after 300 years into exhaustion and conversion of the common man who fought till the end.

The Behdin.

The Arhornan (us) did what we could to save the faith and it's traditions and our holy fire.

But when it became clear that there was no going back, India became a strategic retreat.

It's not like our fight ended in India, as our history of 1300 years shows.

The story of the Parsis and Hindus will be remembered and spoken of in the future as we talk of the Jews and Israel today.

This is the only thing which interests me on forums away from what I do increasingly in the real world with my private and personal time.

The clash of civilizations.

Of faiths.

Ideas.

I ignite. I incite. Wherever I go. Whichever platform. Whoever I meet.

I've essentially without realising it over the past 15 years, slowly morphed from a very wild bohemian young man

To a radical firebrand cleric. Or ideologue if cleric offends you (though I am a born Magi ... albeit a non practicing Osta and not a learned Ervad).

Stick around ...

The ancient Indo-Aryan explanation would be that there are various Gods residing in the body, and at different times different Gods mature and animate your actions.......

God sends his Prophet to a people in their time of greatest need.

A Prophet from the people, of the people, and for the people.

We believe that Christianity and Islam strove to spread inorganically through political imperialist and not divine compunctions.

Spread by man.

Not God.

Especially when spread by war and killing and imposed on a people who had received the original message first.

Thousands of years prior.

It was a racial conflict spilling over. Given divine hues over the next 300 years of deft narrative manipulation.

Dada, this is done in South too. I have fond memories of picking mango leaves (with my mom normally) from tree for this use....and at same time taking some unripe mangos for eating.

It is so prevalent, that there are gold leaf version of mango leaves that can be used more regularly (since fresh mango leaves do dry out pretty fast).

We don't mix any flowers though, we keep it purely mango leaves for entrance.

As for chalk pattern, it is well known in South as "Kolam" though traditionally it is a rice flour based substance. It is similar to Rangoli one can say. It is very very traditional thing to do each morning, each housewife lady has few specific patterns she has developed and perfected.

One more potential conflagration between sanghis and me I can see in the not too distant future ...
