The water rates here in Australia might seem high but you can see them working on the water infra all the time new pipes etc. We don't mind paying high taxes, land rates, water rates etc because the public can see work being done for example if the footpath is broken we can just call the local council and within 24 hours they will come fix it.

that’s bullshit and you knew it, unless it's a super major defect no council will fix it in 24hrs. heck the road infront of my house had a sinkhole for 3 days before it was filled and patched
