The talibs are a fringe movement and not the original Mujahideen force that defeated the Soviets. The Vietcong compared to the talibs were a much larger and organized force that had popular backing from large nations and huge support from all over the area. They can be better compared to the Mujahideen pre-Afghan civil war.

Taliban no longer have nations supporting them. I would like for you to take this statement to any Saudi, UAE or Pakistani consulate/embassy. Ask them for their opinion on supporting taliban.

No Pakistan Government does not support Taliiban and rightfully so.GOP will kick Taliban arse as it did in Swat, SW and soon NW and please don't malign Islam by saying Tailban are islamic.They follow backward tribal laws.
