We are discussing about best capital in South Asia here, if you are late in this thread. The living standard is also best in as per south Asian standard.

Delhi per capita income, which indicates an average earning of a person, is the third highest in the country having per capita income of Rs 1,10676.

what u specified above can be found better in our city of chandighar and much more in number. does it mean we shud make chandighar our capital.

reason behind making a city's capital mostly depends on how much contribution it makes towards culture, political institutions of any country.....

likewise lahore shud have been ur capital. islamabad is a very scenic destination. but it doesnt even have ample population or representation to be called a country's capital.

but nowhere in Isloo will you see stuff like this

Delhi: Delhi has world largest population of vehicles in a city. Delhi has more vehicles then the combine vehicles in Mumbai, Bangaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad combined together.

Old Islamabad airport just 20 KM from centre, new one under construction.

Delhi: has one of the world class Airport which have won many awards. By Sept. this year it will be one of the best in the World. Another new International Airport is coming up in jevar.

Ever heard of Lok Varsa.

Delhi: has thousands of year old monuments and culture of all religion. You will find place of worship of all the religion, their food, cloths, people from all over the world and what not.

More shots in the dark, you are oblivious to ground realities.

Delhi: Has dozens of world class hotels, DISCOS, PUBs, Cinemas, Theater, restaurant you can get food Halal/Jhatka/Kosher from any place in the world that too world class.

Name your sport.

Delhi: Every sports that played in the Olympic has a stadium in Delhi, we are hosting commonwealth games and hosed Asia many times.

But Islamabad don't have them.

what about very good contribution to GDP = not available
Yours is Mumbai, our is Karachi, it serves the purpose of a capital not a sweat shop.

Delhi: If you don't know try to goole, it will save you from embarrassment.

Mumbai is our financial capital but after Mumbai Delhi contributed largest to DGP of India.

New Delhi: GDP $170 billion. Delhi's GDP is = GDP of whole of Pakistan.

we are in South Asia.

I'm not saying Delhi is New York or even best in Asia but Delhi is really best capital in South Asia for 100%.

well another perspective is, a CAPITAL is a city which is representative of its country. it embraces all and every type of people in its country and delhi definately is one. we all know india has both richest and the poorest and delhi can be said as MINI INDIA.

now thats what u call a capital.

as per this if islamabad is representative of its country then pakistan shud be the most developed country in the world with no poor people.....as we dont see any in islamabad.

as for me islamabad isnt the true representation of pakistan.....maybe lahore can ..... lahore is the true depiction of pakistan MINI PAKISTAN.....conjure whole of pak into a city and u will get lahore...... but islamabad isnt.......so talking bout slums isnt actually negetive for being a capital. its integral part of india and we are successfully working on it......if china can why cant we.....afterall our growth are very similar.

Quaid- Azam University, Bahria univerity, NUST(National Univerity of Sciences & Technology),IST (Institute of Space Technology), 5 medical colleges, Barani university, Islamic University, Fauji Foundation, Fatima Jinnah university,The world's second largest university by enrolment, Allama Iqbal Open University, is located in Islamabad. , NDU (National Defense University)

PIMS, Shifa International Hospital, KRL hospital, AFID Armed forces institute of dentistry, AFIC Armed forces institute of cardiology, Hearts International,INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CENTRE, ISLAMABAD GENERAL HOSPITAL,JINNAH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL,NUCLEAR ONCOLOGY & RADIOTHERAPY INSTITUTE, PAK CHINA KIDNEY CENTER, Naval Hospital Islamabad,THE KIDNEY CENTER & several clinics for cosmetic & plastic surgery's

Dawoo, Varan and several other private busses & coaches, cabs & Radio cabs. ISB maintains a standard there fore no rickshaws are allowed in ISB, don't forget Motorway

ISB air port deals with 34 airlines which is not that bad for a small airport. as the number of residents has increased so the new Airport is being constructed.

Liaqat Gymnasium, from para gliding to water sports accommodates tons of other sports

Sports complex Islamabad, world class Squash courts, 2 golf clubs, there are 3 lakes in ISB so water sports are not an issue, not to mention Trekking on Margalla Hills
