What is secret in military affairs ?

Dear members i am starting this thread to discuss different secret matter related to defence forces and military matter . for example we see that in cantonment area photograph is prohibited but lot of pictures are published in media.in addition to when a potential rival country contemplate on weapons purchase or start new kind of weapon developing they disclose detail plan of that weapons and its potential capability, then what is really secret in military matter ?

in today's information age, nothing is. both sides are aware of their counterparts inventory. i guess thats what keeps them from warring each other because they know each others capability to inflict damage

No they do not, many things exist in Pakistani and Indian military which are classified and have been kept a secret. On certain things neither side has a clue, and on others they only have the name of the weapon. If you come across some information first look to see if it's already available on the internet and whether its a leak or if the information was released by the governments.

But yes both sides know about most of their enemies weapons that's almost always been the case in conflicts throughout the history.

Everything is suspected but nothing is confirmed, I think. And if it is confirmed then it can't be let on that the knowledge is known to the international community because of keeping up the images.

That was 70's and 80's era, now it's age of Hi Tech Gadgets, was It possible to for wiki leaks to publish 100 K documents and other related era in that era? Now a Small camera in mobile and access of internet on that mobile can change many things,
