MBS personally is so much invested in this stupid war that he is throwing in everything regardless of the future consequences for Saudi state...They had to withdrawal most of the heavy armor from the Marib due to losses...

On September 17, the Houthis announced that they “liberated” more than 1,600 square kilometers in the central Yemeni province of Ma’rib from the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies during a recent large-scale operation.

Around 3,000 Saudi-backed fighters were killed, 12,400 others were wounded and 550 were captured. Furthermore, 1,500 vehicles of Saudi-backed forces were destroyed, burned or damaged.

Houtis have lost territories in the south.. They can never defeat hadis army and the southern separatists..

Its true that they are surrounded by western led axis of Israeli/saudi/emirati but there is always a way to compensate the deficiencies. Yemen is a country of millions and the easiest way to support them is to provide them with blueprints and some of sensitive electronic parts. They can do the rest.

They're from Hamdan tribe, one of the most martial and loyalist Arm of Prophet Muhammad and later Ali ibn Abi Talib. Hamdanis were elite cavalry of Ali and Rasool Allah. Most notable were Jundub al Hamdani, Malik e Ashtar al Naqai ul Hamdan, Al Haris Al Hamdani etc.. If you look at the records, no invader could ever settle their feet in Yemen just like in Afghanistan. Hadi, US Mercenaries or Saudis. They can never defeat these Hamdani Zaydi Sunnis.

You have taken out some selective qoutes to make it appear that way but I know the history in that country they were routed by the Ottomans on several occasions who held the country firmly.

US-led forces toppled Afghan Taliban in a span of just 2 months in 2001 (in the phase of 'major combat operations').

The war in Yemen have entered 7th year and KSA have not managed to overthrow Houthi yet.

Afghanistan = Landlocked; very large and challenging terrain. Afghan Taliban have many anchors and hideouts in the region as well.

No country can have absolute control Afghanistan in view of its geography and surroundings in a war. Iran was also reluctant to fight a war with Afghan Taliban in the 1990s.

Yemen = Open to Arabian Sea. Houthi can be boxed in and eliminated. KSA does not have much of a navy however.

There is no comparison. Houthi are not really tested in true sense. KSA is still in learning phase.

Since 1517 The ottomans had held large parts of Yemen and eventually taken the reamining it was not because it was difficult but because it was stragetically not valueable the Ottomans wanted to control the strait and San'aa is deep into the land and not near the ocean but Ottomans presence and rule lasted there for nearly 400 years and even ruled San'aa at some points
