Seems IA already indicted M4 in few numbers. Please verify if I am wrong as pic shows an army personal behind general is having an M4 with MARS..

IIRC these guys are PARA(the ones with the M4s). And that's not a MARS sight- maybe EOtech.

. .
Means IA does have M4..why not they opted for Tavors..

M4 come before TAR. May be IA don't like M4 so TAR was preffered later.
TAR costs more than M4 so it will be a costly affair to equip million strong army with TAR but ultimately it should be the best choice. Hope Israel can offer us some good deal on that

Tavor came before M4.Uzi was present before thee two.

I disagree mate.
If F-INSAS would have been ready then there was no need of any other procurement. Current procedure to select new assault rifle will continue for one and half year minimum. And actual delivery will finish in another year. So total time of 2/3 years. If F-INSAS rifle was anywhere near complete MOD would have never given green flag to this procurement. Actually this procurement is saying F-INSAS is minimum 4 years away from production line.

The procurement is a competition between various firms, international and Indian. Whhichever rifle wins, will be license produced by OFB.

Mates, can any one tell what's happening with variants of INSAS (kalantak, Excalibur, Minsas, Insas multicaliber,MSMC, Amogh, & any news on Trichy assault rifle ??????????????????????????) I have heard from a source that Small Arms Factory Kanpur are pushing hard for Amogh assault rifle for SOF and did tried to make a pathetic copy of AK-47 called assault 7.62 which was dumped right away by army. Can't we go for TOT for any suitable selected rifle and license manufacture at our facilities instead of buying with hard cash..like FN-FAL, sterling submachine gun, 9mm browning highpower.

AMOGH

Kalantak: Possibly undergoing trials, no news.

Excalibur: Army rejected it without trials, as the Excalibur was an independent venture, which they did without consulting the army. As such it lacked stuff like Carrying Handle, and had stuff which army didn't want, like full auto. So it's been denied.

MINSAS: It failed as it overheated too much during trials.

INSAS Multi cal? I think you're talking about F-INSAS multi cal.

MSMC, undergoing user trials, most likely to pass the trials.

Amogh also overheats too much, but they are improving it, since they keep displaying new versions at Defexpo.

Trichy Assault Rifle is to be in service with the paramilitary.

Pathetic copy of AK-47 by Kanpur? I never heard of it. Are you talking about A-7?

Ordnance Factory Board

Th A-7 has been seen with some Indian troops in pictures.

Mate AFAIK IA SF have been using he M4 or M16 since early 1990s so predates the Tavor in SF service.

Theres neither any link to support that nor any pics...theres one pic but thats not PARA commando but a Turkish Commando.

I may be wrong too but i would like to see pics or links then.

The rifle in the bottom picture is the F-INSAS rifle.

F2000 Rifle.

The trigger area and stock look very similar.

Ya but thats an artist's impression but not the real stuff.I dont know really...I had read some time ago that ST was in collaboration for the new rifle but then it got black listed.

ST was in collaboration for a carbine afaik, but I may be wrong. Didn't we make some carbing named Milap after they were blacklisted?

I am not even sure what the Milap looks like. Some pics show it as a copy of SAR-21, others say that it is the codename for MSMC.

MINSAS and AMOGH are pretty much the same thing.

Dude..can u throw some light on why this shiny odd bright orange colour was chosen for Insas furniture ... during discussions with IA personals, everyone shown their disappointment on this colour, It looks childish like a toy. Nepalese royal army instructed OFB to supply Insas with black furniture only not with the orange one. Several times I saw it in bright yellow colour too. Does not full black Insas looks more menacing .....why now it is appearing in full black..
