What if the 'people' don't want democracy?

The article is really a reflection of the failure of the political parties in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Most of the parties in these countries are venal, corrupt and self-serving and could care less for the needs of the people they are supposed to represent.

What has this to do with this thread?

To restore the democracy in Bangladesh Territory, You must have to make the trial for killing the Great Son of Bangladesh Territory Shamsul Huq. At least, the truth should be established literally to make the trial on the real culprits in rightful place. Then all the debris must be put to their rightful place. We must establish the democracy. We are the Shamsul Huq. We must do that. Shamsul Huq was the first person in this territory who came from the stream of the mass people. We are Shamsul Huq. We are our leader. We must put the killer to its rightful place.Shamsul Huq - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The spin, "The opinion suggests that the Lybian don't understand Democeacy well."

One should never sign up for something they don't understand on their own.

Nice way to twist the poll !!!

Shamsul Huq was a Bengali politician who led a parliamentary committee in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan to advocate for the recognition of the Bengali language during the Language movement of the 1950s. He was also the first and third General Secretary of the Awami League,[1] playing a key role in Bengali nationalist movement in the 1950s and 1960s.Shamsul is the very first leader from a middle class family who won the general election defeating the then famous and high profile Muslim league leader kurrum Khan ponni(a local Zaminder) of Tangail that made a political storm through the then entire India. This feat created the hope for the general people to unlock the politics from the elite society which eventually led to form the political party of general people "Pakistan awami muslim league" where awami means Janata(general people). So it is said in a word awami league party is established basing the popularity of the then young leader Shamsul Hoque.

What do you know about Shamsul Huq? What do you know about Bangladesh? Who is the destroyer of Shamsul Huq? Who is the betrayer to the Nation? Who is the killer of Shamsul Huq? We are modern Shamsul Huq. We are the answers to the coward betrayers and killers. We are the answer to Aggressors. We are Shamsul Huq. We are the continuator of the ancient Shamsul Huq. We are bearing the bloods of Shamsul Huq. We must take the revenge for killing Shamsul Huq at very young age. We are new Shamsul Huq. We must be the new Shamsul Huq. We are the new real leader. We are the defender of our territory. We are Shamsul Huq!

We are in our Home. We are right in our position. We are now the seventh largest Nation of the world which has the distinct ethnicity. We must retain our rights for our people.

I am not suggesting democracy is a bad system. According to the article people in South Asia just appear to distrust the system.

None can divide us. It is not the middle age. It is 2012. People understand the real truth. None will be able to make any division in Bangladeshi Race. We are the most united Nation of the world. Bangladeshis are clever enough to avoid clash. There is no issue to divide us. But we are strong and united enough to defend any attack from the aggressors. We are the seventh largest Nation of the world . We are the united One.

Opposing democracy is a way by which a minority group can crush a majority. If there had been a democracy in pre-1971 Pakistan then Bengalis would had been dictating their terms on Muhajirs and Punjabis instead of struggling to get their language recognized or asking for more share in federal budget. And we see the same thing in Bahrain and Syria, minority is crushing Majority group.

But , Now We are one Race. None can divide us to catch fish in turbid water. We are the new Shamsul Huq.

In a democracy a party with only 40% of the votes can dictate over 60% of the population that voted for other parties. Hitler came to power through democracy. Democracies can also be manipulated and elections rigged. The elections of 2008 were definitely rigged.

Not true with India, in India we mostly corruption not democracy. But we do see and feel astonished when people blame democracy for their problems in our neighbouring country and they say they should get rid of it.

Yes, because its the mistake of people who don't vote, and in many countries their are rule that a winning candidate must have 50% in second round of the elections. We have these problem of election rigging because of corruption, not democracy.

Then you are just suggesting that democracy works in an ideal world.
