I was just going through an article in dawn (http://www.dawn.com/news/1287227/mounting-tensions) and was just thinking, 'What has Pakistan achieved from hostilities with India? ' Pakistan/ISI in the 90s' waged a very successful, low cost proxy war on India. Disgruntled youth from Kashmir were made to cross LOC, were trained, brainwashed, armed and sent to fight Indian forces and interests. But after 9/11 everything changed, add to that India invested heavily to seal the LOC and cross border infiltration was no longer easy. But never the less ISI continued with it's game now by using unemployed youth from Pakistan instead of Kashmiri youth and by using it's assets in Indian Kashmir (separatists)

With changed scenario after 9/11 and with the Indian/world economy getting integrated the narration of freedom struggle by guns is no longer acceptable and is classified as terrorism all across the globe. Never the less ISI still continued and it did harm India and Indian interests to a certain degree but what Pakistanis failed to realize it that it has harmed Pakistan more than it can ever harm India

So, what has Pakistan achieved so far?

(1) Firstly Pakistan's international image got ruined, which meant less tourism, less business, less FDI leading to weaker economy and poverty. Add to that suspicion with which Pakistani passport is looked at all across the west. An example is my boss had to travel to Pakistan for some work but he decided against it as he said it will become difficult for him to get a US or UK visa if his passport gets stamped with a Pakistani Visa

(2) Secondly because of fighting and losing multiple wars with a bigger enemy, the Army became the most important institutions in Pakistan which meant democratic institutions never got nurtured, massive defence budget, interference of Army in politics etc which again leads to instability which means weaker economy

Now if it would have been 90's it would have made sense for ISI to continue their game. But now with nukes in picture (eliminating chances of one side winning a war), does it makes sense for Pakistan to keep playing 'I bleed you' and 'you bleed me' game any longer? Or do they really believe that some terrorist attacks will make India negotiate on it's terms and thus keep on harming themselves more than they can ever harm India? Your thoughts guys

Pakistan has gained -
i. Enormous amount of internal strength, quashing peaceniks whenever required, reminding people of the meaning of Pakistan. (Pakistan ka matlab kya?)
ii. Stronger Islamism - leads to point (i) (mainstream parties have adopted Islamism, which is good for Pakistan)
iii. Pride in being able to 'bleed India through a thousand cuts'. Bragging rights.
iv. Better links to China - The only country to hand over territory willingly to PRC that it controlled.
v. Better reputation in the Muslim world - Needs no mention

Pakistan has has partially gained by losing -
i. Lives - this is irrelevant. Pakistan has in fact 'gained' 'Shahids'.
ii. Loss of Reputation in the non Muslim world- again irrelevant. The Pak PM has extolled the virtue of Hizbul Mujahedin in the UN, a UN designated terror group

Well, that depends on what they intended to achieve.

Irrespective of right or wrong, a nation born purely out of hatred of Hindu community when sees the nation from which they separated living happily, both Hindus and Muslims together the very reason for its existence cease to exists.

The only thing that remains after that is to somehow prove the reason for their existence is real and 20 Crore people are not fooled by some drunkard. To justify that reason or to make it valid they need hostility to India.

Remember how those fools on TV say "India never accepted our existence".
Those fools never answer that how you got a nation if India never accepted you? how you got so big land mass without sacrificing a single life purely political negotiation and even after that when we had upper hand in 71 we let the East Pakistan to be a sovereign country named today as Bangladesh, we never tried to capture them and make it Indian territory in 71.

Even after they lose everything they will always be the enemy to India no matter what. If they won't the very reason of their existence just vanish.

The Hindu fanatic has now become an "expert" on Pakistani political parties.

They think since in India all the politicial parties have been hijacked by fanatic extremist hindus, it is the same in Pakistan too.

In your dreams!

Rest assure, only in India fanatic terrorists such as Modi can become PM and for govt, not in Pakistan.

If you see Indian media out of 30 political debates 20 would be on Pakistan. :lol:and they win Elections based on Who hates Pakistan more. Arnab goswami literally has orgasms on debates relating to Pakistan.

Nowhere in Pakistan parties take votes based on india hatred.

Thus, what I can understand is Pakistan achieves national purpose, so, is this emotion worth so much loss on it's side as well?

We achieved sovereignty unlike your other neighbours oops i mean states. Namely, Kangladesh & Srilanka.

India and Pakistan can always deal on equal terms, we don't have to be friends anyways. Also Pakistan is big enough to defend it's sovereignty, in fact due to being at loggerheads with a far bigger enemy Pakistan has to surrender it's sovereignty time and again, sometimes to US and other times to China

I am sure about one thing which Pakistan has definitely achieved so far.

An All Weather Friend :china:

Who has become its Saviour

Pakistan achieved nothing... But India got some massive medals by engaging its nose in Pakistan..

Defense budget increased to 52.2 billion dollars to protect India from a "small and weaken enemy".. Shows what?? From whom India fears???. :what:

70% of their population living under the line of poverty..

60% of the people go and defecate in open area.

Unemployment compelled a PhD to apply for the seat of peon..Tch Tch..

Succeeded in protecting their country from ISI but failed to protect their women from their own devils and earned India the title of Rapistan.

Extremism , intolerance...Who doesn't know bout the events happened with Muslims recently??

And the separation movements running currently in Arunachal Pradesh , Asaam, Naga-Land, Tari-Pura, Punjab and Mani-pur..:haha:

India has reasons to fear China. Pakistan is now just a pony used by China and US to threaten India. India's growth to prosperity is something the first world don't want to accept. They want the Elephant and Snake worshipping naked brown people from the 18th century remain as it is. But we are changing and has a positive effect on Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal too.

True India also didn't achieve anything but I believe India does genuinely wants peace with Pakistan. Peace suits both the countries, the only entity for whom peace will be harmful is PA. What can I say Pakistan attacked India in '65, India repaid in '71 and since then it has been a 1000 years war. But I sincerely hope better sense prevails. If US and Japan (whom it nuked) can be allies then surely India and Pakistan can at least be 'not-enemies'

Question would be the.

What has India achieved from Hostilities with Pakistan.

Because these hostilities are generated by India not Pakistan.

I believe otherwise, India doesn't wage proxy war and even if it does it's just a reaction to Lashkar, Jaish, Hizbuls, Dawoods etc and peace suits India more, so why would India unnecessary engage with Pakistan
