What does a Bangladeshi of today thinks of Pakistan?

.
One light hearted question, is there any relation between Bangla and bangla/bungalow?
Yes. Bungalow originally meant a bengali house.

From wikipedia:

Etymology (of Bungalow)
The term originated in India, deriving from the Gujarati બંગલો baṅgalo, meaning "Bengali" and used elliptically for a "house in the Bengal style".[1] This Asian architectural form and design originated in the countryside of Bengal region in South Asia. Such houses were traditionally small, only one storey and detached, and had a wide veranda.[2] The term was first found in English from 1696, where it was used to describe "bungales or hovells" in India for English sailors of the East India Company.[3] Later it became used for the spacious homes or official lodgings of officials of the British Raj, and was so known in Britain and later America, where it initially had high status and exotic connotations, and began to be used in the late 19th century for large country or suburban houses built in an Arts and Crafts or other Western vernacular style—essentially as large cottages, a term also sometimes used.[4] Later developers began to use the term for smaller houses.

In the rural areas of Bangladesh, (the region which Bungalows are named after), it is often called “Bangla Ghor” (Bengali Style House). The Bungalow style houses are still very popular in the rural Bengal. The main construction material used in modern time is corrugated steel sheets. Previously they had been constructed from wood, bamboo and a kind of straw called “Khar”. Khar was used in the roof of the Bungalow house and kept the house cold during hot summer days. Another roofing material for Bungalow houses has been red clay tiles.

On topic of 1971 massacre, i would say that i have little doubt that Pakistan must have carried out the killings on a large scale. Pakistan is an autocratic state that is brutal to its people if they oppose the rule. Over the years there have been countless murders of Pakistanis in West Pakistan as well who went against those in power.

Where's treachery? You didn't give them right to rule when they won election. You behaved like masters. There're no landlords in East Pakistan/Bangladesh. You still smell a landlord.

Ok maan lia. But what happened in 1947 right after partition. Hindu and Sikh were killed, houses and places of worship were destroyed. Was it done by mukti bahini like agents on short notice induction?
Till 1971 Pakistan had had 8 Prime Ministers in total. 4 out of those 8 were Bengalis from East Pakistan. Their representation was even more than Punjab in this area. I don't see where the discrimination is. If Bengalis think didn't get their due rights then they had no one but their own Benglai leaders to blame.

And the treachery started way back in 1962 when Mujib ur Rehman approached India with his plan to seperate East Pakistan. Read up on history a little bit before commenting.

Could you please keep your bs quiet?
Sheikh Mujib was the last loyal Pakistani in the United Pakistan.

He wanted to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Not Bangladesh. Bengali officers of Pak Army warned him long before 25th March but he refused to declare independence.

The daughter of the wartime Prime Minister disclosed how her father begged to Mujib for independence and he refused.

If Mujib was treacherous there was no loyal Pakistani. At least not Bhutto who was ready to break Pakistan for power.

Mujib was the biggest traitor there was. He was caught in the agartala sazish case years before 71 working with India to dismember Pakistan. Its amazing what kind of history has been taught to bangalis. Did you even see the video that i posted? If not then you're not worth the discussion.

Why didn't you hang him if he was caught in the Agartala case? Where is the proof? A poorly made video of some of Bengali rajakars don't change history.

I am not a Mujib fan .But labeling him traitor is a historical mistake.

Mujib used Bengali sentiment to gain vote Bank. He promised Yahya the post of president in future cabinet so that the election could take place. After the election Mujib refused to honor that promise. Bhutto utilized the situation and asked Yahya not to hand over the power. Mujib started strike. Pakistan Army started transporting Baloch and Punjabi troops in East Pakistan to put an end to country wide strikes. Bengali officers gave the intelligence to Mujib. Some of mujib's party member asked him to declare independence. But Mujib refused saying it would be treachery. Then he was arrested and flown to West Pakistan. He had no clue what happened in Bengal. After the war Bhutto came to him freed him and asked him to keep the United Pakistan. Mujib expressed his wish to keep united Pakista the first Bengali he met in London. But he was warned that that was not possible after a bloody war. Otherwise he will face coup.

From the moment Mujib landed in BD, he asked indian army to leave BD breaking a war time treaty. Then against the will of Indira gandhi he joined OIC in Lahore.

If you call this gaddari, there is no loyal Pakistani.

My dear friend, we should not get into the debate that who was traitor and who was not. In 1971 crisis, every person at the helm of affairs or of standing be it political or military contributed to break up of Pakistan. Yahya Khan by not handing over power to Mujib ur Rehman, Bhutto by giving statements that i will break legs of those who go to East Pakistan and saying "udhar tum idhar hum" meaning " you stay there and we stay here". Mujib ur Rehman by giving his 6 points that were anything but independence for East Pakistan. Furthemore, i dont know if Bhutto offered Mujib ur Rehman Prime Ministership of United Pakistan but if he had, Mujib ur Rehman could have stopped the damage and break up of Pakistan by accepting the offer. He was told about bloody war but he could not verify the veracity of the claims.

The thread was meant to investigate the claims of mass genocide which subsequently lead to fall of Dhaka and hatred among Bengalis for Pakistan. Furthermore, the way forward regarding unification of souls, hearts and minds atleast as physical reunification of borders may not be possible without the presence of great statesmen in both Bangladesh and Pakistan who may devise a plan based on justice in which each and every concern and feeling of deprivation of pre 71 era East Pakistan is addressed.

However, lastly, IF you ask me about Mujib ur Rehman's six points and i somehow have the power to reverse the course of events, i would say accept whatever Mujib ur Rehman says for the sake of United Pakistan.

Regards.

Taking about another thing i.e. how Pakistanis fought against indians in 71. Sam Manekshaw has something to say.

Oh trust me.. I've seen Bengalis all over Karachi looking for menial jobs. I especially know one Bengali cook who, after participating in his so called war of liberating, came to Karachi looking for employment. And he got a job in one of my friends' house.

Good atleast they have a job it's their livelihood.

Both our countries are one of the largest Muslims nations in the world, both countries have 160 mill+ Muslims we should learn to get on with each other.

I totally agree Sir. Without jumping onto ideal situation, an understanding may be reached to have atleast common defence policy. It would be better if both Bangladesh and Pakistan armies send their officers to each other training institutions in the first phase and on deputation to each others units in second phase. In the third phase, 3-5 units ONLY can be rotated by both countries by sending into each others countries as a goodwill gesture.

An advanced stage may include two prime ministers, one president to be filled in alternately by Pakistani and Bangladeshi in every 4 year turn. However, both countries may be allowed to follow their own economic policy that suits them and some degree of independence in even foreign policy.

I wish. Once Hasinas tenure is over we can then think about reconciling with Pakistan and other countries that we have wronged.
