What's new

what do you think about this??

Hindus need to be thrown out of Bangladesh. If I'm not wrong, there used to be ton of Arabic, Persian and Turkic words in the spoken and written languages of Bangladesh, before the Hindu rascals, under the British, standardised it with their Bengali.

Hindus need to be thrown out of the country. It is their duty to liberalise Bangladesh and bring in corrupting Hindu and Western influences.
You should be thrown out of the country. For this kind of idea.

Trust me I am talking about the country that I "LIVE" in....
technically you're talking about some place far away.

there is no option to go shopping for a language we simply fancy, as @kobiraaz and @chaanmia had been discussing. chaanmia made a very silly point that Arabic is a language of Middle Eastern fighters and that is why there is no peace there. but being Arabs, they don't have much option to switch to a "more peaceful" language whatever the F that means.

if American children can learn some basic Spanish in school, there is even more reason for Bangladeshi children to be able to get basic grasp of the Arabic language, considering our culture, heritage and the ethnic-geographic origin of many Bengali Muslims. at least we can start to avoid adding "ul" and "ur" to given call names (see below). @Saiful Islam
Be careful Saiful Bhai. They are not dumb. Corrupt maybe, but certainly not dumb. They really know how to hold on to power no matter what. That was where Khaleda Zia failed.

Well I "believe" I have mongoloid blood...I want Mongolian to be taught in Primary schools because that is my ancestor's "Official Language"...and your kids have to learn it....Arabic is "your" religious language not everyone's.....What about Urdu?? just another foreign foreign language like Swahili...irrelevant to me,my country or my people.
is this bold part regarding Urdu? if it is, it baffles me that there is no shame in puking out such ignorance and self-hatred

So I @'ed the wrong person? Big whoop mate.
you should be punished :pissed:

Hindus are not the enemy. the enemy is the Muslim-hating "Muslims", who are allergic to anything about the Muslim part of our heritage.

Americans learn spanish because it is the second most spoken language in the US....there's a pretty good chance that it will be most spoken language there in the distant future.Same is NOT the case for Arabic in BD....you are trying to push a FALSE EQUIVALENCY here....and regarding URDU...it is a distant language...."self" hatred would refer to someone who actually spoke Urdu or whose ancestors spoke Urdu as a mother tongue....which is neither my nor most of my countrymen's case...it might be your case...but you or your ancestors are none of OUR concern!

Don't know what you are getting at by quoting me from another thread. Perhaps you were drunk with your usual ignorance?

Why even bother replying to him? He couldn't even quote properly

This thread has gone way off from taking a piss to language.

any Bangladeshi from a more educated background, and almost every somewhat-educated Muslim and even many non-Muslims outside Bangladesh would know. not only did you follow an unfortunate practice among some BDis of messing up Muslim naming conventions, you did not even know after being pointed out. and you're also trying to act over smart.

perhaps you should learn about your history from somewhere other than Awami League hate speeches. you should start some studying about your own family history and the history of Bangladeshis instead of keeping on coming off as an imbecile here. and this is not a foreign culture you're ignorant about which would be fine, but you're clueless about your own. Urdu is more of a language for Bangladeshis than a colonial era-Brahmin language we know as "shudh Bengali" is, regardless of how successfully the latter has been imposed on Bangladeshis. i don't see how you get the right to downright deny facts just because of being an Awami League supporter.

i said there is even more reason for Bangladeshis to have basic grasp of Arabic than U.S. Americans have about Spanish, because of the importance of Arabic in our culture and our history.

we would've made lot of progress only if at least your own ones were.

we should get rid of schools that teach people Hindu supremacism aka "Bengali" Nationalism

Not necessary. Bengali/Bangladeshi nationalism is very helpful to uphold the separate identity of our people. Other than that people will be in identity crisis like you. And what is the specific Bengali nationalism that taught in schools you want to remove?

that is plaguing BD with poverty, unemployment, chronic confusion and extremism

Not true.

Awami League supporters

Ex madrassa students. Only they know the meanings.

imposing a false identity that people don't understand or even identify with to get rid of "identity crisis"? do you even know what that phrase means? Bengali nationalism (even if it was not Brahmin supremacism) should be banned in Bangladesh. basically anything that clashes with our Muslim-state identity should be banned. Bangladesh nationalism with proper discourse about this land's roots in the 1947 creation of separate Muslim and Hindu states has to be emphasized. if you think this is what drives Muslim-Hindu division, you are wrong. Muslim-Hindu hostilities are because of India's hostile attitude and violation of the sovereignty of East Pakistan/BD and West Pakistan since 1947. you lack basic knowledge (or consciously choose to be ignorant) about Bangladeshis' linguistic culture and history, and bothering too much about someone else's "identity crisis"!

they're probably Awami League supporters because they don't know the meanings. they think the writings are Islamic that is why they are doing that stuff

sultan shamsuddin ilias shah was called sultan-e-bangala  i guess he was a brahmin too :D

do you know why this place was called bangala centuries ago ? because our ancestors spoke bangla bhasha . Bangla language was born in our land and became a rich language because of direct interaction with other cultures.

I have seen people using tiles of hindu god in staircase corners of old buildings, where many men feel inclined to spit(especially if they chew paan/khaini/gutka), the success rate is mixed at best, it does not stop habitual spitters (or non hindus may be).
I once saw a sign 'please spit here', with a big bucket of sand underneath(probably to limit spitting paan to fewer area), one guy has spit (the red juice) exactly on the 'please spit here' sign. people are funny.

poor and hollow argument to justify imposing an alien language created in a rush by Brahmin pundits in the British colonial era. may I know why you are trying to promote this Brahmin "shudh Bengali" so much and even rejecting Urdu, even though Urdu has been closer to Bengal's Muslims as a prestige/literary language? why was Persian the official language of Bengala/Bengal's inhabitants?**

today's "shudh Bengali" was never picked up by Muslims until Brahmins ascended to power in the British era and developed this language to get rid off Muslim influence (1700s to 1900s). educated Muslims learned "shudh Bengali" not as their own language, and they had never given up Urdu at least. and now people like you and Anubis are trying to re-write history saying Urdu does not concern us at all! if you have doubts about these or are short on information, please let me know - we can learn together. these matters are not debatable whatever your political affiliation is.

**East Bengal's Muslims and Bengal's Muslims in general use various dialects, instead of shudh Bengali, as native tongue considered 'slang' variety, not prestige or literary mediums.
