What's new

What do you do in Summer?

I guess its keralite speciality (we got keralite ancestry in my family). @Levina probably knows the jackfruit dishes (lots involving even the unripe jackfruit).
Oooiiiii
Me luvs it.
I have a sweet tooth and this happens to be one of my all time favs. We call it Chakka-varutiathu. This is later used as an ingredient to prepare other dishes, specially when it's not jackfruit season.
I don't know if you have heard of Chakka-paysam, Chakka-unniappams etc, it's prepared from the same "jam" (as you call it). I would like to call it a conserve though. :-)

I miss home now. :(

On topic:
In summers you should be hitting the beach isn't it?

Yah, but they are nothing to write home about....and have to drive quite a bit to get to them. They are not exactly really sandy either :P (the land kind of just ends given the strong currents offshore that erode but dont deposit)....leading to a landscape of stoney, cliffs and lots of beach chickens and other characters.

Its why (along with the cold in winter) people retire to florida mostly lol.

.
Summers are mostly spent at hometown where sometimes it touches to 50 degree centigrade. So, besides waiting for summers to go way, the thing to look forward is, mango parties with kachi lassi at tube well along with childhood friends. Another thing I look forward to is one or two hiking trips in northern areas which temporarily gives relief from burning summer.

Really ,? You guys lose appetite in summer , I thought losing appetite in cold areas is common .
Like in quetta , which is a high altitude city , I don't get much hunger , I eat very very less because I don't feel hungry. But when am in jaffarbad , a hot area I eat two chawal ki rotis, 1 gandum ki and a plate of rice . I eat so much in lower attitude cities which is very impossible in quetta . In quetta only one roti of wheat is enough , you can skip the dinner , it won't bother you .

Between when it's summer in quetta , you can bet to take off your shirt and experience the sun light and let it enter your body . And then drink lassi and sleep lol .

.
Sun bath and mostly when in Pakistan.....AC, AC, n AC.

In UK go to shopping and cricket watching!

. .
Go for swimming whenever I can...usually once or twice in a week, eat lots of mangoes as once season is gone, you'll have to wait for next summer.
