A couple yrs ago, I took three Chinese co-workers to Nellis AFB airshow. Two were China Chinese, one man and one woman who were dating each other, and one male Singapore Chinese. They planned an extended weekend to visit Las Vegas so I invited them to my house and took them to the airshow. In Nellis, I introduced them to a few active duty friends in both flightline and the Pararescue units. The Pararescue squadron is USAF Special Operations. Despite being Air Force, these guys are just as good in the water as the Navy SEALs. Nellis AFB is home to the Thunderbirds demo team, a squadron of F-22, and a squadron of Aggressor. Basically, Nellis have the world's best pilots and air combat support.
Anyway...I took my Chinese friends around the squadron areas, introduced them to the AF people as friends and co-workers, and all of us, Americans and Chinese, had a good time walking around the airshow. At the day's end over dinner buffet in the Bellagio, my Chinese friends admitted that the positive experience they received from American strangers, and at a major military installation at that, would never happen in China, perhaps even
COULD NEVER happen in China. They were amazed at how open were the American military members. Nothing 'classified' were revealed, of course, my AF friends are not that gullible. But they were most surprised at how educated, trained, and authoritative the American military members have, even among the junior enlisted ranks. The Singapore Chinese completed his mandatory military service and said there was no parity with the all volunteer American military.
Talk about mental issues with the Chinese members on this little corner of the Internet. They talk as if they represent all Chinese regardless of locations and professions when so many of them, on this forum, are either students or just starting out into adulthood, as so many of them admitted. They know nothing or very little about the US but talks as if they grew up in the US. They lived all their lives in China under a dictatorial government and insists that the US government must be the same. So yes, mental asylum is an apt descriptor.
