@ranjeet @jamahir do you guys know this movie. i watched it in 1985 or 86. in soviet times the only foreign movies that came to our cinema were bollywood movies. i love this movie, it reminds me of those happy childhood times, where an ice cream and cinema ticket was equal to paradise LOL that guy mithun chakraborty was a huge star in soviets :smitten:

before his last song his father shouts to him "sing jimmy sing" and that phrase became kind of a proverb in soviets :yahoo:

there was also this movie

i watched this movie in 1988. i cried watching this movie, then at the same day i cried in the hospital, when it turned out i have an appendicitis and doctor said he's gonna operate me :partay:

oh, yes... mithun and his disco steps, especially his signature pelvic thrusts. :D

he was a hit hero in the 80's, though some of his films were rubbish commercial things, one film i liked was "ghulami", which also had two other star heroes, naseeruddin shah and dharmendra.

maybe you have seen it... it is set in a dry state ( rajasthan, i think ) and is about the oppression by the village feudal and how the heroes tackle him.

in the late 90's, he started making films in which he was actor and producer... some of his films had him in double role. :D

these films he made generally at the south indian hill station called ooty, where he also happens to own a big hotel, thus saving on many costs.

a few years ago, mithun acted in a salman khan film called lucky which was set in russia... it has some great song videography and i liked the real weaponary shown in the film... the film also introduced the heroine, sneha ullal, who was 15 or 16 then and rather looked like aishwarya rai, and sneha also came from aishwarya's town, mangalore... it was salman's idea to make ash jealous :D )... below are two songs from "lucky"...

1. "sun zara"...

2. "jaan meri jaa rahi sanam"...

at present, mithun judges dance shows but he seems to have turned into bit of a religious bigot.

edit : i want to ask you if you know of the uzbek singer, sevara nazarkhan.

Masa berlalu
Tanpaku menyedari
Percintaan yang kita bina
Hampir terlerai
Apa salahku
Kau buatku begini
Dalam dilema
Di antara jalan derita
Tidak pernah kuduga
Ini semua terjadi
Oh!..............
Janganlah engkau
Menghancurkan segala
Setelah lama
Kita mengharungi bersama
Usah biarkan
Cinta kita yang suci
Dilambung ombak
Karam dilautan berduri
Hanya satu pintaku
Moga kau menginsafi
Oh!............... Semua ini
Telah banyak yang kuberi
Sejak dulu lagi
Pengorbanan tiada pernah jemu
Hanyalah Tuhan saja
Bisa menentukan semua
Kesabaran daku menantimu
Oh!.............
Kutetap memaafkan
Dan berdoa kau kembali
Sebelum diri melangkah pergi

Lovely lyrics

Time-lapse
Without me realizing
The love that we build
was almost neglected
What is wrong with me?
You make me like this
In dilemma
between the path of pain
Never did I think
All this would happen
Oh! ..............
Thou shalt not
Destroy all
From a time span (time period)
We face together
Do not allow
Our pure love
Tossed to the waves
"causing" ship wreck in a hostile (prickly) sea
My only hope
May you realize
Oh! ...............all this
I gave a lot
Since time immemorial
No sacrifice was weary
Only God alone
Can determine all
I patiently await you
Oh! .............
I always forgive
And pray you come back
Before stepping away to go

@Indos Can you kindly check ....my Vocabulary is hitting the ground...BTW, do you know this song...Was extremely famous during my O levels....or maybe I think...

I like those classic ones coz I actually was a Chinese TVB drama buff....Had watched some 30-50 drama serials by the time I was entering O levels....and those that I put here are the OST/ theme songs of the drama from my childhood

From Japanese the only drama I fell in love with was GTO 1998 (Great teacher Onizuka) ...

Great_Teacher_Onizuka.jpg

The main actor was cute :ashamed:

Then I jumped to Korean:
Sad one wont recommend it unless you want some tissue boxes around you...Though actor is handsome :p:

This one is funny!!!

So is this Princess hours!!! Bought the DVD...Though the guy looks slightly girlish

I just never understood this one:

professor madan gopal singing this sufi song, "heer ranjha"... even though i don't understand most of the punjabi wording of this song, the beauty of the singing and the music accompaniment takes me away...

Yea....

1) From American : Numerous esp related to crime and stuff from Bones, NCIS, CSI, Hawai 4.0 to medical related ones like Grey's anatomy (stopped watching until it was more about some love affair than anything), House to comedies like How I met your mother, Big Bang theory, Classic full house, save by the bell, fresh prince of belair...

2) Chinese

3) Pakistani - gotta love em

4) Some Brazilian (only 2 actually 1 I loved the song - Rosalinda the other was a waste of my time I cant even recall the name)

5) Thai (cant recall a single name)

6) Malaysian

7) yucky British ones....Seriously one has to wonder what is wrong with them...Only one I tolerated was this classical one:

8) Korean

9) Then there was an attempt to watch Indian drama...OMG it was never ending....1 problem after another...even the kids shared the same problematic genes and continued the problematic legacy and the drama easily went over 100 episodes ...I remember I was watching one Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya - I just did a quick google and the top most video was episode 421 :o:

Bloody drama has been continuing since my MSc!!!

Not in any particular order just from the top of my head actually!
