The university where I work at offers Hindi, but not Urdu. Is Hindi somewhat similar to Urdu at least? I'm thinking of enrolling for the class.

Hindi and Urdu are sister languages; like Norwegian and Swedish !

Plus they're written in two different scripts and Urdu borrows heavily from Persian while Hindi borrows from Sanskrit !
