Are you serious? Do you even know the history of Afghanistan? It’s a country incapable of national cohesion, at any level.
Currently reading Steve Coll’s Ghost Wars and he briefly goes over the history of Afghanistan. Even during the best of times, it’s a country run by regionalism, controlled either by warlords or self-serving governors. The writ of national government barely extends beyond Kabul. Does this sound familiar?
As for the supporting the Afghan National Army, the US has spent billion to equip and train this military and they are doing horribly, often running away, surrendering en masse, or just defecting to the other side. Guess what the Soviets also built up the Afghan Army too. I think you know what happened there.
The US attempt to make a nation out of Afghanistan is the latest chapter in a book littered with failures. I ask: why write more?
