What's new

What about giving a reset to Pak-US relations instead of severing it?

Hmm, sorry, which country have accepted us as legitimate nuclear state? France have denied us providing their avionics on the other hand. Saab have wouldn't provide us Gripen even if we want to buy and that is official as far as I know.

PS: I think this discussion pulling thread off the track.

No it isn't. The whole point is we should be approaching the world independent of our reliance on US. If someone believes that's not possible, then we need to discuss why not.

They have the hate and motivation. The US has the firepower. It can be a toxic combination. If it comes to it, the US can provide its own fire power for the morons to push forward. With Salala being a reality in the not so distant past, we need to be prepared for the worst. And not underestimate the enemy.

Salala was indeed a very clear reminder where we stand. This was a heinously preplanned attack. An attack with so many angles and ugly intents. We should never ever forget Salala. Salala is what defined America Pakistan relations.

US is not and will not be our ally ever , our rulers made mistake by giving US free hand.

We have nothing in common we have no people to people contact , average american thinks shit nonsense about Pakistanis let dump this shit relation or reduce it to average relation.

The relationship is already nonexistent and riddled with mindboggling misconceptions. It is irreversible at this point. As things stand, expect the non-existent relationship to worsen in coming years. Trump is the final nail in the coffin. Bad things will happen. I mean really terrible things.

Ideally this should be the case, however Pakistan went overboard to help US achieve its certain goals in the region. Now when the Afghanistan is slipping and war doesn't seem to come to an end, US wants Pakistan to do exactly what they want and how they want. Pakistan on the other hand has its reservations placed right which will not be addressed by US.
Diplomacy should work this out by give and take by both sides.

Couldn't agree more here. We are to be blamed here. We gave them everything on a silver platter. This is not how stable and mature nations conduct politics. Our motive is always based on fear and appeasement. Fear and appeasement never works.

Why sever ties ? Pak-US relations have been kept alive by successive governments on each sides so why ruin it now .

It's time to pick sides between the developing world and the Afghan tribesmen, its very appalling that Pakistanis have chosen the taliban against the whole damn world.

The Quetta shura or Peshawar shura poses a threat to breeding new age terrorists against the state and the region at large tomorrow they'll drag and whoop men or women for simply wearing jeans.

The truth of the fact is that we stand isolated in the region thanks to failed foreign policy and its control by the army.

Hell no country likes to keep relations with PK.
Look at Afghanistan and we've been absolutely terrible to them.

Bengalis don't elect the leaders that are pro Pakistanis anymore

India has magnanimous issues with PK

Iran has been smuggling drugs alongside extremist ideology of Shia Sunni ffaysad to PK since the revolution and they don't care about us to a large extent we also have a trade problem with them in my opinion we can Benefit from their industry to strengthen our own through investment.

Only China which seems to have been fed up now couldn't do much about the brexit statements and is looking to control the Pakistani economy.

In a world where all countries are waging economic and technological wars , we're waging a bloody proxy war against neighbouring countries and In process destroying the nation through proxy inaction and clever bloody negligence.

US has shown incredible restraint in fighting a decade long war , its time to put priorities straight because no matter what the central Afghan Government can never be defeated by the taliban opposite to the false assessment by my fellow countrymen ...the recent spike in terror activities will come down in Afghanistan once ISIS is defeated in the Middle East, believe it or not but the Afghan Government and US cannot ever be defeated in Afghanistan .
U.S is just looking for a humane and peaceful exit and we're the biggest blockade of the whole process.

We should look for greater economic contribution from not just U.S and other countries, forget the fucking nukes and proxy wars forget the Kashmir , people in Pakistan just want better education health standard and be left alone than to be dragged along the current path of utter nonsensical stupidity all around.

If we hadn't militarised our poor country to the teeth we wouldn't have the magnanimous problems we have today but no Government particularly the military wants to demilitarise the country and that leaves us the most problematic country on earth and no nation likes us.

We can continue to go along the same path and that will just mean more isolation for us and zero fucking national progress.

It is not like that, I just admire the idea of categorically organizing information. Also, I totally agree with you on this stance but just don't see how we can do that and what tools we've available. There is another thread for that: https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/which-one-s-will-be-better-ally-in-future.515918/ I would really appreciate your contribution - maybe we can start discussion on this some other day.

Very good summarization .

You are saying USA has lost in Afghan war.

But the question is what has Pakistan gained by helping USA.

You know Pakistan must had some objectives.

In that sense, Pakistan has also failed to gain its objectives.

And 16 years have wasted and earned the terrorist Tag in the end.

So choose your friends and companions wisely

That is long story, but of course Pakistan have/had its own interests - we were not fighting someone's war of revenge. Fight against terrorism was, in fact, co-incidence of interest. We're still doing our part, however, we've nothing to with civil war in Afghanistan. More conflicts between Pakistan and US are arising lately because their strategy in Afghanistan isn't reaching anywhere. Pak-US anti-terrorism cooperation is limited to Pakistan only - we've no commitment or concern on Afghanistan.
