We don't need some special aircraft for the SFC, neither are they asking for them. The fighters that we call India's front line air superiority fighters, the SU MKIs can very well do the job. They should have the wherewithal to survive most aerial combats with hostile fighters. They should have the range and payload capacity needed to deliver nukes on intended targets. Of course, they will be needed to be given SEAD cover as well as ECM/ECCM cover and for this, additional specialist aircraft will have to be grouped with them. The fighters themselves may have to be suitably modified for the purpose. I do not see the need for going for a different breed of fighters for this, that will simply further overburden the logistics chain. I also strongly believe that these aircraft, once inducted should not be under the command or control of the IAF. They may use the pilots, technical manpower and the logistics/maintenance infrastructure of the IAF but they should remain solely under the control of the SFC.
