It's a very simple concept, and easy to do. Much easier than rioting and killing innocent people, wouldn't you think?

This is what we do in the "West" If someone says or does something stupid. We tell them they are stupid and IGNORE them.

We don't gather together like a bunch of lunatics in a mob and start burning things and killing innocent people. IT's called being civilized.

Is it the "don't insult and disrespect Islam" or "don't insult and disrespect any religion" idea they were pushing for? Because i doubt it was the latter. How would those laws apply on KSA or any Islamic country for that matter? Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism are all considered blasphemous according to Islam. As Islam is considered blasphemous according to Christianity.

No, in all honesty they simply want Islam to be respected and other religions to do the respecting while non-Islamic religions are shamelessly attacked.

OIC is the largest block in UN (second largest international body in the world after U.N ). Give OIC time...and once they have 'enough' diplomatic , economic , political , and military muscle...OIC can actually outweigh West at UN ...

is this happening after the oil fields dry up in 40 years? because one would argue that " economically" the OIC member countries have the best trump card in their hands right now " oil".

Quite honestly I would believe that Muslims of intellect would be embarrassed about this move by the OIC for the very reasons you stated above. it is ironical that they going to a " free body" to ask for special considerations that they do not afford others

Agreed that the movie was made with the intention of disrespecting Islam, but blasphemy laws are more ridiculous.

No civilized country can have laws that behead or stone someone for disrespecting a religion. It is simply disgusting.

Their is no need for blasphemy laws. Faith is individual belief, its got nothing to do with someone bad mouthing it or the Prophet.

I don't expect any better from OIC.
