I know the Indian troll brigade really gets off on this burqa thing but I have already explained why the French ban on burqa is indefensible. It cannot be justified under secularism, terrorism, or women's rights. It is, plain and simple, a tantrum discriminating against a particular dress code. Combined with the blatantly discriminatory headscarf law, the French are clearly moving in the direction of institutionalized religious discrimination.

Saudi Arabia is justified in its laws because it states clearly that it is an Islamic state, so its laws abide by Islam.

France claims to be a secular country, so it cannot enact laws that discriminate on the basis of religion. If they rename themselves to the Christian Republic of France, then they are free to enact all sorts of laws favoring Christianity. Until then, it is France who are the hypocrites.

Well then why only saudis, here in Kuwait you cant be so open in your dressing on the beach. Even in UAE there are certain areas where you can do that. So is the case with Qatar and Bahrain. Egypt, and every where else. Tell me can you wear a bikini at every spot in Bombay on the beach.
