What's new

We should not forget Pakistan has better overall record: Dhoni

Yes, Pakistan does have a better overall record against India but a trend emerges when you dig deeper. India has won more matches against Pak in the last 10 years. Unfortunately, the two teams have not been playing each other regularly for this to be more apparent. The trend does show a slow decline for Pak and many will acknowledge that in-spite of finding talent, their cricket management has not fielded a consistently performing team for a long time. If this continues and India gets to play more cricket against Pak, the overall record will start to change.

If Indian bowlers eat beef for 21 days in a row their speed will go up to 150 kph. If Binny did this he would become Shoaib Akhtar. :cheesy:

Chicken is the cleanest protein source, not beef. Red meat if eaten very often is not very good for you.

If I had to pick a world XI, based on captaincy alone, I would pick Dhoni, he's a major strength in your team. And you could see in the match how he dressed up the entire Pak batting line up to fall in the match. India played a very calculating game.

I don't know why we cannot produce fast bowlers like Pakistan does. No raw pace, and what they have, they lose within a few years.

Is it the diet? Do they need to eat lots of beef?

Pakistanis? Your views?

There are some simple reasons for this. One is rather politically incorrect, it's genetics, some parts of Pakistan breed naturally stronger and taller men, strong backs. But the reason we're able to have these boys train to be fast bowlers is because of role models.

Go see how the kids in the streets play cricket, all of them want to be fast bowlers like their role models. In India, you have hardly any pace role models, in recent memory at least, no kid wants to be Zaheer Khan, all want to be Sachin, or now Kohli.

It's role models. But Pakistan's recent talent is being destroyed, firstly, the greatest young pacer to come out in the last 15 years at least Mohammad Aamir, threw away his career, which I dare say would be rivalling the likes of of the best pacers in the world right now. That boy could swing the ball at incredible speeds, he was disciplined in his deliveries too, and incredibly smart, he knew how to hold a bat too.

Also, the shipping off of all domestic cricket games for team Pakistan abroad has hurt us badly, more than most people realise. In fact, I'm quite certain making selections and practising on those dead, dead pitches of the ME have killed the hopes of a lot of our pace. And I mean dead, those pitches are worse than the ones in India and BD. They do nothing for spin and even less for pacers.

I think the biggest issue with current Pakistani pacers is disciplined bowling, speed is fine, you can swing the ball, you can get wickets, but can they bowl consistently at a good length just outside the off-stump for many balls? No, just take a look at the pacers in that match before 45th over, all over the place, being thrashed by quality batsman.

Haryanvis are the most fit, strong, tall and agile ethnic group in South Asia. :D

He showed humility when asked about the 6-0 record against Pakistan in World Cup. "Well, the record is good, but it's something that I don't want to get into because there will come a time when we will lose, irrespective of whether it happens this World Cup, next World Cup or four World Cups down the line.

"It's not something that will stay until the world exists. No point in really thinking about it. As far as the World Cup record is concerned, we are definitely proud of it, but it will be broken at some point of time, skipper said in a philosophical tone."

Awesome sportsmanship. These types of encouraging behaviors and mature, goodwill gestures will create peace one day between the two nations. Good job Mr. Dhoni!!!

Your equation will become 25-24 in pakistan favour if you start counting from year 2000 to till now which i would sy equal rather than dominating

:)
Yes I wondered why he chose '2001'.

The fact remains though that Pakistan, by not playing enough international cricket, has not given its players the experience and this is going to reflect in the next few years.

What a Noob Pakistanis are. hoho....Jalo jalo....Har gaya bhai har Gaya..Pakistan har gaya...:bunny::yahoo::yahoo::bunny:

In Imran's case, not so.

He was a better bowler then all of them 3 combined. (No disrespect to Kapil, Javegal and Zaheer).

In his last 10 years of cricket, Imran averaged 19 with the ball and more than 50 with the bat. And I am not even mentioning his captaincy.

They don't call him the best all rounder of this century for no reason.
And I have no disagreement with that...I was commenting on the basic comparison of raw pace vs line/length bowling. Imran is one of the few who did both.

You forget Waseem Akram, Waqar Yonis. Bro, they are legends. No one in world ( not jus from India) can match them.

If I have powers in BCCI, I choose Waseem Akram as Indian bowling coach.

Waseem Akram gave valuable bowling tips to Irfan Khan Pathan.............

Simply because we are physically superior and no I am not trolling, that's the fact even you people know some where deep down in your hearts.
we know ! one pakistani momin=10 hindu baniya !

I think line and length of fast bowler matter most than just speed..fast bowlers is good if he take wickets and give less runs.it dont matter if he bowl at speed of 150 plus km but cannot manage to take wickets
Agree! the best bowler of this era ( 21st century) is Glenn McGrath. But He rarely touched 140+ mark!

Sushil Kumar is pure Veg and no weakling. Defeated Pakistani wrestler in 157 sec! it all about mindset and lack of role models. Ask any kid Every one want to be Sachin in India!

you'd be surprised if next month we find our next Waqar or Akhtar, phir kohli ke kolhey tut jain gye
even when waqar, waseem and Akhtar were bowling together .. daddy hit them out of park in 2003 WC !!

As far I think even Indian Punjabis eat beef, but as someone already said its more cultural, because most of the street cricket players always want to end up becoming a Fast bowler, not a big number is interested to become batsmen. On street level we always strive to bowl as fast as we can and what better sight can it be to hurt a batsmen with a short fast bowl :P

And yet three best fast bowlers of Pakistan could not break morale of a 15 year old boy.

Tendulkar played his first Test match against Pakistan in Karachi. And he couldn't have had a tougher induction: in Karachi, Pakistan, he faced the fearsome bowling attack of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis (also making his debut).

He made just 15 runs, being bowled by Waqar Younis. Cricket critics commended Sachin for braving numerous blows to his body at the hands of the Pakistani pace attack in this series. While his 15 runs can hardly be considered memorable, the way in which he withstood the numerous blows to his body was an instant indication that the boy was quickly becoming a man. Sure enough, Tendulkar scored his maiden test fifty a few days later.

In the final test in Sialkot, though he was hit on the nose by a bouncer he declined medical assistance and continued to bat with a bleeding nose. In that Test series Sachin scored 215 runs in all at an average of 35.83.

In a 20 over exhibition game in Peshawar, Tendulkar scored 53 runs off 18 balls, including an over in which he scored 27 runs off Abdul Qadir. The then Indian captain Kris Srikkanth later recalled this match as “one of the best innings I have seen”

Out of the +21 that Pakistan has over India, +12 is from Sharjah. With all of Indian underworld sitting in the stands and players and bollywood stars paying homage to them before matches, and all the revelations of match fixing that started from Sharjah, those matches should carry an asterisk.
But still the game changer was the last ball six by Miandad. That just deflated the Indian side for a long time and they truly only came out of it after beating Pakistan in the 1992 world cup. Just look at the record before and after Miandad's last ball six match. 1986 to 1992 was the most one-sided affair in favor of Pakistan. And they had a great team as well, both batting and bowling. I suffered through each and every match from that period.
