'We don’t maintain relations with India at the cost of country’s interest': Local government, rural development & cooperatives minister Md Tajul Islam

Why will we forget their gratefulness?”

The hon'ble minister is right that we in Bangladesh "will (never) forget their (India's) gratefulness". We see everyday how grateful they are, and want more of the same, in how their HC grovels to our ministers for various trade favors.

RIP the King's English BTW. Coming out of a State Minister....I think he should just stick to Bangla...

Being an Indian, you should know that you never kick the cow gau-mata that keeps giving you milk - Laat Mat Marna. That'd be counter-productive.

Bangladesh is a special gau mata.

We give milk, gau mutra and gau dung.

It would be more heinous than kicking your birth human mata!!!

Shouldn't insult any faith.

I did not. This is a proverb in Bangla.

Dudh dewa gorukey lathi martey nei.

@Joe Shearer Dada am I wrong? I will gladly delete my comments if this is offensive.

Well, the analogy was only relevant because of his inferred faith though ?

I don't have quarrel with you anyway so I don't know why I pointed that out..

Don't mind me.

Arms industry?

Bangladesh makes Missiles? Nope!
Bangladesh makes MBRL? Nope!
Bangladesh makes Helicopters? Nope!
Bangladesh makes Tanks? Nope!
Bangladesh makes Submarines? Nope!
Bangladesh makes Destroyers/Frigates? Nope!
Bangladesh makes Jets? Nope!

Thank you for for input, this is what Bangladesh wants help with, setting up those industries. Bangladesh is in talk with china and Turkiye to help build those.

Whats your idea of defence manufacturing? Do you think we have to start from making swords then to guns then to making advanced weapons?

With TOT and initial foreign help it should not take long to build an industry. Unless you disagree with me. Would like to hear your points.

You know, all India will need is to block the import of electricity in BD and divert water. Rest will follow.
India is already diverting water whenever it need and can. It can not do anymore. India can not divert water from Brahmaputra river even if it want to. Not it can afford to divert water from other rivers including Ganges during monsoon season when flood occures. This two events mean, Bangladesh will continue to receive most of the water from India even if India turn into a enemy state and become hellbent on stopping water to Bangladesh.

Less than 10 percent of our electricity need comes from India. It would be suicidal for your Tripura state and a loss to West Bengal and Adani group if you block Electricity export to Bangladesh. While Bangladesh may experience some load shedding for a few days, but it can recover because there is a substantial number of idle power plants in Bangladesh and more power plants in pipe line expected to deliver electricity in coming years.

Oh India can do a lot. Like holding water during summer and then releasing it in one go during monsoon.

Aren't you planning to import Electricity from Nepal and Bhutan via India?

It is already doing that, that's why flood in Bangladesh ususally severe than it should be. India hold water at Farakka barrage during lean season and release water suddenly when flood situation in Bihar and West Bengal get deteriorated. Same thing also happen in case of Teesta river. These two are biggest rivers comes to Bangladesh from India aside from Brahmaputra. Others are much smaller river, most often the tributaries and branches of Ganges-Brahmaputra. So India already utiliizing it's River trump card against Bangladesh as much as it could. Nothing it can do more.
