We cross Himalayas for education: Tibetan students

I suggest the call center captain go back to China vs India in aeronautics where you're probably less embarrassed.

Oh sheesh kabab!!!!

you know what, according to UNDP report on human development, the state of indian education is such a disaster. dont put up this kind of BS which makes only yourself ashamed.

ask your AP Manivannan where did he find out context about literacy in Tibet in UN's HDR.

Why such a hate towards tibetians, grant them freedom. Just cuz you dont have freedom and you are happy with it, doesnt mean other people are...

comparing the HDI values for the year 2002 for the nine countries with those calculated for all developing countries ut together, india has a value lower than the developing-country average. In face , China,Malaysia, Thailand and Sri Lanka record figures that are higher than even the average HDI value for the world as a whole.

Adult Literacy rate
China 90.0
india 61.3

90% literacy in what!!! I dont want freaking lying chinese data. We all know what they are famous for. Tariq Aziz is a amateur infront of you lot.

thus I feel extremely grateful that india has been devoting itself to education on Chinese tibetan, while letting its own population way illiterate.

They are tibetian, not chinese. Thank you. Somehow with even all the literacy all the R&D is going to India not China, You make cheap imitations and nothing else

conceptualized thought doesn't prove well.

Logically the world biggest democracy of yours should've been leading over China in almost every field.
logically the one party country like Singapore should've collapsed before it enrolled into world's developed country club.

why all these not happening? everyone has his own behoove.

When you have to built a road in India or any democratic nation, you have to go through the process, time consuming. Thank America for what China is today, Thank Nixon and Kissinger especially.

In china and singapore you wanna make a road, you make it. People get homeless, but then again it doesnt matter. Check the three gorges dam.

China is one of the world largest human rights violators

I'll tell you why its happening. Chinese have a subservient "factory line" mindset.
They are used to obeying orders and they do that very well.
The compulsory army training doesn't do too badly either.

Now that China's ruling party has some people that actually know what they're doing, they can use their resources very efficiently, and, in the absence of opposition, take very little time to implement decisions.

This IMO is the story of China.

Thank You

well this is kinda reasonable, and it's a truth that there's an unification system specially in one party countries, once the government decides to do something that people widely support, it can easily concentrate the whole nation's strength to achieve the goal, without being bothered by counterviews.

Sorry baby, those above are not chinese data, they are inside the UNDP 2002 report, I just forget to inform you that. no meaningless snarl pls, just go check it.

Honestly my hatred for the CCP and its policies will mostly over-shadow any sane answers you might give. There !! I said it, a load of my chest. I dont boast at people I think i should respect, but others I honestly dont give a damn.

I beg to differ.

The government doesn't give much thought about the support of the people.
It simply does what it feels is right.

Frankly, the people in China don't have the means to either "support" or "not support" a decision.

So, your highways get built my friend, but they also crush many beneath them.

London: Four Indian education institutions figure in the latest world university rankings, which continue to be topped by the universities of Harvard, Cambridge and Oxford, for their strengths in teaching and research.

The four Indian institutions are the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Delhi University (DU).

The IITs rank 57th in the world's top 200 universities list and the IIMs rank 68th. The JNU has been placed at 183. The Times Higher Education Supplement, an authoritative journal in academia, announced the third edition of the rankings.

In the list of the world's top 100 science universities, IITs rank 33rd, while in the list for top technology universities, the rank of IITs jumps to the third place after the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of California, Berkeley.

The IIMs rank 68th in the list of top technology universities.

In the ranking for the world's top universities in arts and humanities, Delhi University has been placed in the 75th position. In the list for social sciences, it is ranked 86th. In this list, Delhi University is upstaged by IIMs at 26 and JNU at rank 57.

Both IITs and JNU figure in the list for the world's top universities for biomedicine, at ranks 70 and 99 respectively.

In the world ranking for top 50 universities outside the US and Britain, the list features the IITs (15th rank), IIMs (19) and JNU (47).

In the overall rankings, Harvard University remains at the top and Imperial College London is the only newcomer in the top 10. Cambridge and Oxford moved up to second and third place after displacing MIT, which is now ranked fourth.

There are 29 British universities in the top 200 - six more than last year.

The university rankings are based on a survey of 3,703 academics worldwide. They were asked to nominate up to 30 institutions they regarded as the best at research in their own fields. On that measure, Cambridge came top, followed by Oxford then Harvard. Employers were also surveyed.

things have changed so much in China, Marathaman, I bet you never heard of a protecting rights and benefits movement in Shenzhen two years ago. when municipality planed to build a new highway passing through a residential district in order to save both mileage and government budget, it was strongly opposed by the residents who thought the highway would break the atmosphere of peace and calm. hundreds of people went demonstrating in front of the city hall and finally the highway made a big circuity.

If it happened 20 years ago, all residents would be told to obey the national benefits.
btw, the release of Property Law indicates the increasing power of populace as well.

one more thing, it's good that you'd take a sit for research on Chinese society, archieving that you may have to get rid of some customary thoughts which are usually biased on China.

what's more, in response to your darkminded starting thread over Chinese edcuation, would you mind telling me an indian story about Reservation in educational institutions? or at least tell me what's happening in below scene:

Yes, there are sometimes problems of the food distribution system in India and hence there is hunger.

This is an interesting read:

Autocratic Ghosts and Chinese Hunger

As Becker explains, "[I]n the mid-1980's, American demographers were able to examine population statistics which had been released when China launched her open-door policy in 1979. Their conclusion was startling: at least 30 million people had starved to death, far more than anyone, including the most militant critics of the Chinese Communist Party, had ever imagined." (p.xi) Becker's investigations turn up a broad range of estimates, most of them in the range of 30 to as much as 60 million unnatural deaths during 1958-61.

Reservation is what in the US is called Affirmative Action.

Unlike the US, which is relatively new in implementation, this has been there ever since independence. There is a lot of rumbling in the US even though the system has hardly gone through its paces as it has in India. Maybe, you would not prefer to comment on that.

However, it is being misused, even though the original aim was noble. Many have been empowered by this otherwise excellent instrument.

However, these reservations are misused by the politicians as vote catching gimmicks and they have over the years increased the quota wherein at places 70% and more of all seats in educational institutes are reserved for the once socially backward. In other words, only 30% or less of the seats are available to the others. Thus, merit is not the criteria in our current allotment of seats in educational system wherein a large number of otherwise good students (and most better than those who come in through the reserved quota) are deprived.

This is the nub of the issue.

What is it in China?
