The NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan may have fallen through, but people across the border in both countries would rather give peace a chance.

Indian Ocean's Rahul Ram, stand-up comedian, writer and lyricist Varun Grover and stand-up comedian and social-satirist Sanjay Rajoura had collaborated and put together a song called 'Mere saamne wali sarhad pe' on India's Independence Day. At a time when ceasefire violations had spiralled, souring relations between both countries, the song spoke about how the people of both nations have more in common than the perceived differences

The song by the 'Aisi Taisi Democracy' trio has now elicited a response from across the border, which reiterates the message for peace and dialogue.

The Pakistani version of the song written by Muhammad Hassan Miraj, who identifies himself as a Major in the Pakistan Army, stresses that leaders of both nations should not perpetuate negative messages. "I have been writing about the two countries since a long time," says Miraj adding that when he saw the video of 'Aisi taisi democracy', he felt they should also respond to it. "Its been almost 70 years, but this divide which people choose to refer as a line, has claimed hundreds of lives. It's not just wars, hum khud apney bacchon ko nafrat ka sabaq sikha rehay hain.. wahan bhi ..yahan bhi," he says. Produced by Khawar Azhar who sent Miraj the version by 'Aisi Taisi Democracy', the song written by Miraj has been sung by Mujtaba Ali, with Ali and Kamran on guitar while Gul Durrani directed the video.

India’s Aisi Taisi Democracy song went viral a couple of days back. A group of Pakistani musicians came forward with a song of their own.

Aptly titled Aisi Taisi Hypocrisy, the Pakistani version of the Mere Saamne Waali Sarhad Pe takes both potshots at India and also hints towards peace with the neighbouring country. The song has been sung by a group of musicians from Islamabad.

Indian Ocean’s Rahul Ram, stand-up comedian, writer and lyricist Varun Grover and stand-up comedian and social-satirist Sanjay Rajoura had all come together to make a music video titled Mere Saamne Wali Sarhad Pe.

Not to be outdone by their Indian counterparts, here is what the Pakistanis came up with. The song has been penned down by Mohammad Mairaj and is sung by Mujtaba Ali. The video is directed by Gul Durrani whereas Kamran and Ali are on the guitars. The poem has been penned down by Mohammad Hassan Mairaj, an officer of the Pakistan Army.

Taking potshots at the Indians and their constant sense of cynicism towards Pakistan and the general stereotyping Bollywood films promote, the song also hints at promoting peace between both the neighbours in the end.
The original song was Mere Saamne Wali Khidki Me, from the 1968 hit Indian film Padosan. It starred Kishore Kumar, Sunil Dutt and Saira Banu. View the song below:-
