well, unless there is an extreme event happening such as natural disaster, although poverty exists in VN but it´s rate decreases by every year. we are a developing country though. there is a interesting paper of the University of Leeds that compares 150 countries in the world. Question: which country provides the best result to its citizens with least resources? Answer: no country. BUT Vietnam is the only country that comes much close to the best desired outcomes: good access to healthcare, education, jobs, equality, social support, access to energy, high life expectancy. yes we are better than Germany that tops the chart!

Good for vietnam to have rapid growth rates of the economy and exports.
We also have something called meikarta here a new city, building still in progress.
And we also have many infrastructure project here from the sea to the jungle, from the beach to the mountain, from one island to another(many) island and not only focusing in java, it just matter of time the economy in Nusa Tenggara and Papua will grow.
Good for you to join TPP, while it seems Indonesia not interested with it and prefer the RCEP, i wonder if its because jakarta doesn't want to isolated a certain someone, and want to work with everyone?

North Vietnam is depend on china water supply, millions of their people, agriculture, aquaculture, industries need our water for their economic growth, and these ungraceful people still want to use US, Japan and India to counter China.

will send rice again when it run out cos we r rice exporter .... But in many Indonesia's provinces ppl are facing with rice shortage and ppl have to sleep wt hungry stomachs while Indonesia have to buy rice from Thai,VN this year.

So, u guys'd better pay more money to buy rice from VN, Thai to save your poor pple instead of trying to believe that u r richer than VN.

So many starving Indonesian, so what is the use of higher GDP when poor ppl in Ha Giang still have better life than u guys with rice to eat everyday??

Very encouraging stats.. once the 65 dams being built during 2015-2019 period are completed all over Indonesia, agriculture products including rice production will skyrocketing.. In Nusa Tenggara alone there're 7 new Dams currently under construction and near completion..

Now you jump to nutritional welfare to make VN somehow looks richer than Indonesia? Nutritional welfare has little correlation to hard macro economics because they are two topics at two different level.

There are more than 40 million people suffering from hunger in the USA, it doesnt make USA any less poorer (in macro economics term) to say, Indonesia with 19 million (2015) data. The reason could range from economic system, sparseliness of its people, inequal food distribution. If VN enjoys subsidized rice from government becuase VN is a commie, then it is good. But it is irrelevant to what was being discussed here.

Vietnam and Indonesia take different ways in the economy. We embrace the world by allowing everyone to trade with everyone, while Indonesia takes a nationalist tone by driving a self sufficiency policy, restricting trades in export and import, with even restricting import of basic commodities such as Garlic from China.

Tpp is more suitable for free economies with strong manufacturing and export basis, otherwise your domestic industry will be pushed into bankruptcy. Tpp is brutal capitalism.

In contrast RCEP is more for kids in the kindergarten.

Stop comparing Vietnam with South Korea you guys have nothing in common. The sk receives "Yuge" financial aid for post war reconstruction & SK ironically have Japan to thanks for helping SK with infrastructures & investments. There's a saying that SK will not get where it is today without Japan.

Vietnam is a lot more closer to Bangladesh economically. So maybe you can start comparing yourself with the Bangladeshi.

Agree with the "Yuge" financial aid, except you forget to mention the huge undeveloped Chinese market at that time. Most of the korean goods in the 70s to 90s went straight to Chinese market since their goods were cheaper than the Japanese one, which tremendously helped them in building their industries. Unlike today, where Vietnam has to compete with the Chinese companies and other countries like Thailand and Indonesia in a low supply chain. However, Vietnam still have their advantages due to his geographic location close to the world's largest supply chain "East Asia".
