It seems to share approximately the same design of the F-16...?

F2 was an idea of USA but Japan adapted it. Had flutter problems. I do not think that it is suited for sea long range missions. The idea of F16 is being light and agile... This pretty much ruined that part and it was much wiser to go for something like F18...

Ching was kind of TOT without selling F16... Underpowered. Not enough room to improve but overall a nice start. They now moved to a very good trainer with the problem that is that good that it has become to expensive...

a bit too expensive for the performance they can give with the PAF, cannot certainly out match the FC20 so a useless buy i guess!

here are a few details:
F-2:
speed: Mach 2
TWR: 0.89
and a payload of 8000KG,
the plane houses the avionics almost on par with the ones of Block 40 F16s and the plane cost at about over 100 million dollars per plane (too expensive)


the FCk is not much of a match even for the JF17!

I agree with you .Desert Falcon is better ;It is the newest f16.But Desert Falcon isnt Japanese F2. They are different

F-2 is based on the US concept of "Aglie Falcon" it is larger in size as compared to Falcon for the sake of more fuel load in order to cover the Japanese coast line and sea patrols but it is a very good development though costly.
FCK-1 ching cou is based on F-16 and its C/D versions are expected to be more modernized
