Well Malaysia for one country is not going to be a part. This is the same as Obama's ill fated Asia Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) which ended up nowhere.

Like Malaysia, Bangladesh is also a potential huge recipient of Chinese industrial investments and export industries powered by Chinese equipment. It already is quite a bit.

Angering the Chinese at this stage is a very bad idea.

China has already opened up entire Chinese economy and market for our exports - free of tariff for the most part. That takes a lot of goodwill to do.

Should we dishonor that goodwill? Why?

There is highest tariff on almost everything we export to the US, while Vietnam has a lot lower amount.

The US did not do us any special favors trade-wise, far from it.

And we mainly just export one product to the US - Underpriced clothes for Walmart and Target. Imagine. We are not even a trade rival and they pull this on us.

Their poor folks would have a hard time buying these clothes cheap without our exports.

Other countries have lower tariff on exports to the US as well. Why this step-motherly behavior??

For those who think that the US can easily move away from nearly 10 billion US dollars of cheap garment exports are living in a fantasy world.

US economy is suffering from severe inflation and sanctioning BD garments would hit their poor even harder,

BD is also moving into the home electronics sector and it is offering an excellent price:performance ratio there.

It needs to keep on this path and in 10-15 years it should become a relative equal of the Western countries and they would suffer in any trade war as much as BD would.
