Fleet of F-35s (Archive)

Combined US and Gulf sources said contracts for the supply of components of the F-35 fighter jets, which the United States deprived Turkey of, may go to a Gulf state and that negotiations began in this regard.

Sources that were not disclosed to the London-based Arab newspaper, said:
The Gulf state is concerned about the F-35 stealth fighter project and would like to take advantage of the contracts to support its emerging air industries, and which gives it an opportunity to participate in one of the most technologically advanced projects in the world.

The United States has decided to remove Turkey from the most advanced aircraft manufacturing project in the world in response to the insistence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to buy and deploy the Russian S-400 system.

The F-35 modern aircraft is a major project in the NATO air force and sold to allies close to Washington.

Turkish companies currently supply 937 spare parts for the F-35, of which 400 are exclusively manufactured by Turkish companies. These companies will henceforth be prevented from receiving contracts for these items and their share of these spare parts will be transfered to companies in other countries.

Observers believe that it is easy for Washington to compensate for the role played by Turkey in the F-35 project, and the search for a new partner.

The Turkish-Russian specialist Yemtar Bishif expressed his belief that the Saudis are closely watching the Turkish agreement with Moscow. The prospect of selling these Russian systems would open the door in the highly attractive Gulf market.

The UAE is the main prospect..

that is baaad news for us

well SA wants S400 too how that going to play ???? and other gulf countries want it too

.
No we dont want more american shit with sanctions. The F35 cant fly supersonic as its radar coating doesnt work. It has so many flaws

dude its still one of most potent fighter in the world, your enemy will have Rafale in next two years .. You need a strong Punch , and don't forget Rafale is only fighter so far that give tough time to F-22 Raptor .

Might be Israel but I am not sure.

This problem is in F-35C only which have achieved IOC recently. The jet can go supersonic without any issue but have not reached the stage of operating at its max potential yet. Secondly, this issue does not affect all F-35C in service.

No country would consider inducting a problematic jet for its defense. F-35 have received lot of bad press during the course of its development which should not be the case because people can misread things.

Every modern jet have its share of problems during the course of its development but some countries conceal better than others.

PAF would love to purchase 36- 50 F-35's but Sadly Americans won't sell :(
Can you imagine, The US refused to sell it to KSA and the UAE.. the latter still has big chances to get it.. and with this "level of intimacy" in making important parts, the door will be open for its procurement by both the UAE and KSA..who both have qualified companies to tackle this task..so it is either the UAE or KSA who will get this deal..
The news has not been confirmed officially yet, so better wait and see..
As for Saudi Arabia procurement of the S-400.. I do not think it is going to be a problem, first because KSA is not a NATO member, but mostly because it wants the system to be dedicated to point defence.. like the nuclear plants, and not as a state defence..it will be integrated to the actual C5i, but only as a peripheric system..

KSA has already one of the strongest Air force in the ME , and i dare say it in the world with access to almost all latest technology from US/NATO .

I know bro .. Just a small wish from me :) I would be happy if US release those remaining 18 F-16 block 52's and allow us to upgrade our existing fleet of F-16's to V standards . Along with AESA mounted JF's , it wont be a walk in Park for IAF to violate Pakistani Air space .
