Washington earmarks funds to strengthen Pakistani counter-insurgency

as you please my dear friend!:enjoy:
the sri-lankan insurgency is going into its 25th year and now is nearing its end. so dont expect our militancy to end very soon. there are no silver-bullet solutions here, it will take time and it requires the support of all pakistanis!

FM Sir,

The challenge in Pakistan is not a military one. I have said this and believed this from day one. If the issue of domestic politics was not one of primacy, the PA would dominate these groups. One thing that PA does well is adapt and learn well from experiences in the past. However until and unless the Army sees the enemy clear cut and gets the support of the public in going after these people, Pakistan's COIN operations will remain inconclusive. More successful examples of COIN operations have been the ones in Baluchistan and in the EP. In both places, the Army was successful in completing the mission assigned to it. What came after is debatable, however the military part is not.

The bigger challenge in Pakistan is the overarching interests of the state, the local groups and the outsiders. This has confused the Pakistani public and as such you will not find all of Pakistanis supporting this fight. At this time, even if a majority supported this fight it would be news to me.

The work cut out in front of the Pakistani nation is not one of re-aligning the Military..it has to happen at a social level.

i agree but before the social work kicks-in so to speak, the military component has to "clear the areas" so to speak before the social (economic and educational etc) work can start.

the situation has gone down the abyss and there is no light at the end of it. you cannot make deals with these thugs who claim of "imposition of sharia through peaceful means" = barrel of a gun!

an eye-for-an-eye as they say!
no pain no gain!:enjoy:
